  Item 5 : Gu-un(驅殞,구운)... Driving out and making fall... Case No. 189

驅殞(구운)은 남을 絶地(절지)로 몰아 넣는 것이다.

 "Gu-un" is to drive others into a desperate land(絶地,절지) .

강한 자가 약한 자를 능멸하고,

  The strong insult the weak.

꾀 있는 자가 어리석은 자에게 농간을 부리며 혹 구하는 바에 이르지 못하거나,

 The clever play tricks on the foolish, either making them fail to reach what they seek,

말하는 바에 따르지 않으면 암암리에 그물과 함정에 몰아 넣는다.

  Or drining them secretly into nets and traps if they do not follow what is said.

새나 짐승이 그물과 함정에 걸리어 깃털과 살점이 어지럽게 흩어지듯이

  Just as birds or beasts are caught in nets and traps,

  and their feathers and  flesh are scattered messily,

사람을 해치니 하늘이 다시 또 약하고 어리석은 자를 크게 속이도록 내버려두지 않을 것이다.

  It harms people, so Heaven will not leave[the wicked] to greatly deceive

  the weak and foolish ever again.

驅殞者는 驅人於絶地也라 (구운자는 구인어절지야라)

  One who drives others to ruin(驅殞,구운) is one who drives people(驅人,구인)

  into a land of no escape(絶地也,어절지).

强者는 凌弱하며 (강자는 능약하며)

  The strong(强者,강자) insult  / oppress(凌,능) the weak(弱,약).

謀者는 弄痴하여 或所求不至하며 (모자는 농치하여 혹소구부지하며)

  The scheming / crafty ones(謀者,모자) piay with / mock(弄,농) the foolish(痴,치)

   making it so that perhaps(或,혹) what they seek(所求,소구) does not arrive(不至,부지).

所言不從이면 暗驅網穽하여 羽肉이 狼藉라 (소언부종이면   암구망정하여  우육이 랑자라)

 If what is spoken(所言,소언) is not followed(不從,부종), 

 they secretly drive them(暗驅,암구) into nets and pitfalls(網穽,망정),

  so that feathers and flesh(羽肉,우육) are scattered in a messy state(狼藉,랑자).

天이 不復弱痴者로 聲其大欺也니라. (천이 불복약치자로 성기대기야니라.)

  Heaven(天,천) will not again(不復,불복) allow the weak and foolish(弱痴者,약치자)[to be harmed],

  and will loudly denounce / punish(聲,성) that great deception(其大欺,기대기).

남을 잘되게 하는 일은 크게 현명하고 능력이 있는 사람이 모든 힘을 기우린다해도 쉽지 않다.

  Helping others succeed is not easy,

  even if a highly wise and capable person pours all their strenght into it.

그러나 남을 망치는 일은 무능력하고 어리석은 사람일수록 너무도 쉽게 한다.

  However, ruining others is something that those who are incompetent

   and foolish can do all too easily.

흔히 권세와 재물이 있는 자들이 자신의 힘을 믿고 이 같은 행동을하나

  Commonly, those with power and wealth commit such acts,

  relying on their own strenght.

이 같은 행동은 혼자 못하고  똑같이 잔인하고 간교한 사람끼리 모여서 약자에게 행하게 되는것이 보통이다.

  Yet, an individual rarely does this alone; usually, people who are equally cruel

   and crafty gather together to inflicct these acts upon the weak.

그러나 대상이 되는 약자가 없어지면 결국 자신의 차례가 된다.

  However, once the weak―who were the targets ―disappear,

  it eventually becomes their own turn.

따라서 종국에 가서는 자신도 다치게 되니 역사에서 볼 때 이같이호랑이 등을 타고 호령하는 사람치고

호랑이 밥이 되지 않은 사람이극히드문 것이며, 사냥개가 토끼를 다잡고 나면 다음 차례는 사냥개가 되어

사냥꾼은 사냥개의 목을 매달고 껍질을 태우고 사냥개의 몸뚱이를 먹어 치우게 된다.

  Therefore, in the end, they themselves will also get hurt.

   Historically speaking, it is extremely rare for someone who rides on a tiger′s back and

   commands others not to end up as tiger food.

   Once the hunting dog has caught all the rabbits, it becomes the hunting dog′s turn next;

   the hunter will hang the dog by its neck, burn its skin, and devour its body.

남을 해치던 흉기가 그 방향을 바꾸어 자신을 해치게 되는 것이다.

  Thus, the dangerous weapon that used to harm others changes its direction

   and ends up harming oneself.
