2026.8.22(토) 오늘의 말씀카드, 365묵상글

1. 묵상칼럼 : 참된 비움에서 시작되는 신비로운 연합

"그 날에는 내가 아버지 안에, 너희가 내 안에, 내가 너희 안에 있는 것을 너희가 알리라" (요한복음 14:20)

"회개란 죄에 대한 감각뿐 아니라 자신에 대한 철저한 무가치함을 느끼는 것입니다." (오스왈드 챔버스)

  우리는 종종 회개를 단순히 '잘못된 행동을 반성하고 고치는 결단' 정도로 축소하곤 합니다. 그러나 오스왈드 챔버스는 회개의 본질을 훨씬 깊은 심연으로 이끕니다. 참된 회개는 죄책감을 느끼는 데서 멈추지 않고, 하나님을 떠난 내 자아에는 단 하나의 선함이나 구원의 가능성도 없다는 철저한 자기 파산 선고입니다. 내 의지와 열심, 자아의 가능성이 완전히 무너져 내릴 때 비로소 우리는 두 손을 들고 십자가 앞에 엎드릴 수 있습니다.

   놀랍게도 성경이 약속하는 가장 깊은 은혜는 바로 이 비워진 자리에서 시작됩니다. 예수님께서는 성령이 임하시는 '그 날'에 우리가 상상할 수 없는 신비로운 연합을 경험하게 될 것이라 말씀하셨습니다. 성부와 성자가 하나이듯, 우리가 주님 안에 거하고 주님이 우리 안에 거하는 완전한 일체감입니다.

   자신의 가치를 증명하려는 자아로 가득 차 있는 마음에는 주님이 거하실 자리가 없습니다. 내가 완전히 무가치함을 인정하고 자아의 왕좌에서 내려올 때, 그 텅 빈 공간은 그리스도의 생명과 사랑으로 채워집니다. 신앙의 신비는 나의 무가치함과 그리스도의 온전하심이 만나는 순간 피어납니다. 오늘 하루, 내 힘과 자아를 완전히 내려놓는 깊은 회개를 통해, 내 안에 사시는 그리스도와의 온전한 연합을 누리시기를 소망합니다.

2. 묵상칼럼(영어버전) : The Mysterious Union Born from True Emptiness

"On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you." (John 14:20)

"Repentance means not only a sense of sin, but a sense of complete unworthiness in oneself." (Oswald Chambers)

   We often reduce repentance to mere remorse or a moral resolution to fix bad habits. Yet Oswald Chambers directs our attention to a far deeper reality. True repentance goes beyond guilt; it is the radical recognition of our utter spiritual bankruptcy apart from God—the conviction that within our independent self lies no inherent goodness or saving power. Only when our self-reliance and pride collapse entirely can we fall before the cross with open, empty hands.

  Remarkably, the profoundest grace promised in Scripture begins precisely in this place of emptiness. Jesus promised that "on that day"—through the Holy Spirit—we would experience a profound, mysterious union: just as the Son is in the Father, we dwell in Him, and He dwells in us.

   A heart crowded with self-justification leaves no room for Christ. But when we surrender our illusions of self-worth and step down from the throne of our lives, that vacant space is filled with His life and righteousness. The mystery of faith unfolds at the exact intersection where our bankruptcy meets His fullness. May you experience deep repentance today—laying down your self-sufficiency to rest in complete union with Christ living within you.
