으로 불리우는 영국의 대표적인 포크 가수 로 15세가 되던 해 낡은 기타 한 대를 구해 독학으로 음악
공부를 시작해서17살때 부터 집시 친구와 함께 영국을 떠돌며 노래와 구걸을 하는 방랑생활로
60년대 초반을 보내고1965년 초 해트필드로 돌아와서 클럽에서 연주를 하며 정착했는데,음반
기획자들의 눈에 띄어 파이 레코드사와 계약을 맺으며 음악 생활을 시작하게 됐으며,Geoff
Stephens 와 Peter Eden 두 매니저의 도움으로 데모 테입을 녹음하게됐고 당시 인기를 끌던 영국
1TV의 음악 쇼 프로그램인 'Ready Steady Go' 의 프로듀서인 Elkan Allen 이 테이프를 듣고
도노반의 출연을 결정하게 됐으며,이 프로에서 그의 첫 발매곡인 'Catch The Wind' 를 연주하였는데,
이 싱글은 영국 차트 탑 5위에 랭크되었으며 이후 발표한 싱글 'Colours' 역시 히트를 기록하며,
명성을 얻기 시작했고,1968년 Newport Folk Festival 에 참석하며 미국 팝계에 데뷔를 했습니다.
Jennifer Juniper 는 1968년 앨범 [The Hurdy Gurdy Man] 에 수록되었던 곡이며 UK 차트 5 위,
빌보드 싱글 차트 26 위에 올랐던 곡으로 국내에서는 도노반의 가장 잘 알려진 곡으로 그의 대표곡중
한 곡입니다.
