#2. Sketchbook missing from Picasso Museum

On Tuesday, the Pablo Picasso Museum in Paris reported the theft of a sketchbook worth 8 million euros containing 33 of Picasso's drawings. A spokeswoman for the Paris prosecutors' department noted that there had been an open-house party at the museum the previous day. She also said a special theft unit of the Paris police is investigating who may have made off with the valuable sketchbook. The Picasso Museum opened in 1985, and it displays hundreds of pieces of art that Picasso's heirs gave up in lieu of paying inheritance taxes. To offset the costs of refurbishment, the museum has been lending works to museums in Europe and Asia.
