An Iowa House committee unanimously approved a bill Tuesday that would delay requirements for gas stations to install fuel dispensers that can handle fuel blends with higher amounts of ethanol.
아이오와 주 하원 위원회는 주유소가 더 많은 양의 에탄올을 혼합한 연료를 처리할 수 있는 연료 디스펜서를 설치하도록 하는 법안을 만장일치로 승인했다.
 
House Study Bill 742 would modify a 2022 law that says new gas stations and those that are updated must use dispensers that are compatible with E85, a blend that is 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Instead, new dispensers must be compatible with at least E15 until next year, then E40 until 2030, then E85 thereafter under the modification.
하원 연구 법안 742는 2022년 신규 주유소와 업데이트되는 주유소는 에탄올 85%와 휘발유 15%의 혼합물인 E85와 호환되는 디스펜서를 사용해야 한다는 법안을 수정하는 내용이다. 대신, 새 디스펜서는 내년까지는 최소 E15,  2030년까지 E40, 그 이후에는 수정된 법에 따라 E85와 호환되어야 한다.
 
The law is meant to ensure easier transitions to higher ethanol blends in future years, but some gas station owners have worried about their abilities to obtain the dispensers.
이 법은 향후 더 높은 에탄올 혼합 비율로 쉽게 전환할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이지만, 일부 주유소 소유주들은 디스펜서를 구할 수 있는 능력에 대해 우려하고 하고 있다.
 

A similar bill in the Senate was approved by a committee last month.
상원에서도 유사한 법안이 지난달 위원회에서 승인되었다.
 
“It’s really important for us to support our farmers, our agricultural industry, and therefore support this good piece of legislation,” said Rep. Sami Scheetz, D-Cedar Rapids.
"우리 농부들과 농업 산업을 지원하는 것은 정말 중요한 일이며, 따라서 이 좋은 법안을 지지합니다."라고 사미 스킷츠 의원은 말했다.
 
More than half of the corn produced in Iowa is used to make ethanol, and Iowa is the top ethanol-producing state.
아이오와에서 생산되는 옥수수의 절반 이상이 에탄올을 만드는 데 사용되며, 아이오와는 에탄올 생산량이 가장 많은 주이다.
