즉 우리가 흔히 아는 기계적·미니멀한 신스팝 크라프트베르크가 되기 전의, 훨씬 실험적이고 자유로운 시기를 담은 작품입니다.

1972년의 크라프트베르크는 아직 완전히 “로봇 같은 전자 밴드”가 아니었어요.
당시 중심은 사실상: Ralf Hütter , Florian Schneider
이 두 사람이었고, 음악은 지금의 전형적인 전자팝보다는 독일 실험음악 / 크라우트록 / 아방가르드 / 미니멀리즘 쪽에 더 가까웠습니다.
즉 이 앨범은: 멜로디 중심 팝 앨범이 아니라 소리, 반복, 질감, 구조를 탐험하는 앨범이에요.

크라프트베르크 2는 독일 전자 음악 밴드 크라프트베르크의 두 번째 정규 앨범으로, 1972년 1월에 발매되었습니다.

배경 및 구성
크라프트베르크 2는 창립 멤버인 랄프 휘터와 플로리안 슈나이더가 1971년 말에 전곡을 작곡하고 연주했으며, 영향력 있는 프로듀서 콘라트 "코니" 플랑크가 녹음을 맡았습니다. 휘터는 앨범 녹음에 대해 다음과 같이 회상했습니다.

"우리가 온갖 이상한 것들을 했기 때문에 아무도 우리와 함께 연주하고 싶어 하지 않았어요... 피드백, 배음, 소리, 리듬 같은 것들을요. 우리가 전자 장비를 사용했기 때문에 드러머도 우리와 함께 작업하고 싶어 하지 않았죠."

크라프트베르크의 다른 작품들과 비교했을 때 가장 특징이 덜한 앨범으로, 신시사이저가 전혀 사용되지 않았으며, 주로 일렉트릭 기타, 베이스 기타, 플루트, 바이올린으로 구성되어 있습니다. 앨범에 사용된 전자음악은 대체로 1960년대 학계에서 주로 사용되던 테이프 기반 음악의 영역에 속하며, 테이프 에코(예를 들어 "Strom"의 반복되는 플루트 레이어)와 역방향 및 변형 속도 테이프 효과를 많이 사용했습니다.

앨범의 시작을 알리는 길고 긴 곡 "Klingklang"은 미리 설정된 오르간 비트박스를 퍼커션 트랙으로 사용한 점이 주목할 만합니다. 슈톡하우젠을 연상시키는 시끄러운 금속성 퍼커션 몽타주로 시작하여 크라프트베르크 특유의 사운드를 만들어냅니다. 이후 이 곡 제목은 밴드가 뒤셀도르프에 직접 지은 스튜디오의 이름이 되기도 했습니다. "Atem"은 호흡 소리를 녹음한 곡이며, "Harmonika"는 테이프를 조작한 하모니카 연주를 특징으로 합니다.

Kraftwerk 2 is the second studio album by German electronic band Kraftwerk, released in January 1972.

Background and composition
Kraftwerk 2 was entirely written and performed by founding Kraftwerk members Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider in late 1971, with the sessions produced by the influential Konrad "Conny" Plank. Hütter later said of the album's recording:

Nobody wanted to play with us because we did all kinds of strange things ... feedbacks and overtones and sounds and rhythms. No drummer wanted to work with us because we had these electronic gadgets.

Perhaps the least characteristic album of their output, it features no synthesizers, the instrumentation being largely electric guitar, bass guitar, flute and violin. The electronics on display generally belong to the realm of 1960s tape-based music more usually produced in academia, with heavy use of tape echo (for example the massed looping flute layers of "Strom"), and reverse and altered speed tape effects.

The lengthy, almost side-long "Klingklang" which opens the album is notable for its use of a preset organ beatbox to provide the percussion track. It starts with a clangourous Stockhausen-like metallic percussion montage and gives rise to the unmistakable Kraftwerk sound. Later, the song title also became the name of the band's own self-built studio, in Düsseldorf. "Atem" is a recording of breathing, while "Harmonika" features a tape-manipulated mouth organ.
