대전 오월드를 탈출한 지 9일 만에 생포된 늑대 ‘늑구’가 위장에서 발견된 낚시바늘 제거 시술을 받고 회복 중이다.

17일 대전시와 오월드 등에 따르면 이날 오전 0시 44분쯤 마취 상태로 생포된 늑구는 오월드 내 동물병원으로 옮겨졌다. 호흡과 맥박 등 건강에는 이상이 없는 상태로 확인됐다.

하지만 정밀 검사를 진행하는 과정에서 엑스레이(X-ray) 촬영 결과 늑구의 위장에서 2.6㎝ 길이의 낚시바늘이 발견됐다.

결국 늑구는 이날 오전 오월드 외부의 동물병원으로 옮겨져 내시경으로 낚시바늘을 꺼내는 시술을 받았다.

오월드 관계자는 “낚시바늘과 생선 가시, 나뭇잎 등이 위장에서 발견됐는데 낚시바늘 위치가 너무 깊어 위험하다고 판단했다”면서 “혈액 검사 등도 정상적으로 나와 건강에는 이상이 없는 상태로 회복 중이다”고 말했다.

오월드는 당분간 늑구를 별도 공간에서 보호하며 건강 상태를 확인한다는 방침이다.

늑구는 지난 8일 오월드 늑대사파리의 철조망 밑 땅을 파고 탈출하면서 17일 잡히기 전까지 오월드를 중심으로 한 수색이 벌어졌다.
