When Jesus came out|wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe,|Pilate said to them,|"Here is the man!"

come은 완전자동사이므로 부사가 오는 것 외에는 어떤 것도 올 수 없는데 현재분사인 wearing이 come뒤에 와서 사용되고 있다. 이때 wearing의 문법적 역할이 문제가 되고 있다. 쓰임새는 마치 보어 역할을 하는 것처럼 사용되었다. 이와 같이 완전자동사 다음에 현재분사 과거분사 형용사 명사 등이 오면 마치 쓰임새가 보어처럼 사용되었다고 하여 유사보어라고 한다. [아래 참조]

③ 유사보어와 분사구문[부대상황]의 한계가 혼동스럽다. 컴마가 있으면 부대상황으로 보는편이 좋은 것 같다.

① 유사[wns]보어: 완전자동사+ Ving, Pp, 형용사, 명사---[보어역할]
완전 자동사다음에는 문법상 명사나 형용사 분사 등이 올 수 없다. 그러나 실제 문장에서 사용되고 있으며 마치 불완전 동사의 보어처럼 사용되고 있다. --- 즉 완전자동사 다음에 분사, 명사 형용사 등이 사용되어. 불완전 자동사의 보어처럼 사용되고 있으므로 ---그래서 문법상 보어는 아니지만 보어와 비슷하게 유사하게 사용되고 역할을 하고 있어 이를 유사보어라고 한다. 대체로 유사보어는 두 문장이 합해져 한 문장이 되었다고 생각하면 된다. the people came running그는 달려왔다.
a. He died rich.→ He died when he was rich. (그는 부자였다 / 그가 죽었을 때.)
He died a millionaire. → He died when he was a millionaire. (그는 백만장자였다/ 그가 죽었을 때)

유사보어:die, go가다, live, marry결혼하다, sit, stand서다 등과 같은 동사는 본래 완전자동사로서 1형식 문장에서만 사용된다. 그런데 예외없는 법칙은 없다고, 특히 영어에서는 예외가 강하여, 이러한 동사 뒤에 명사, 형용사, 현재분사, 과거분사가 오면 이들이 문장 안에서 하는 역할이 보어 비슷하지만 문법적으로 설명할 수 없게 된다. 우리도 꼭 그 물건이 아니고 비슷한 물건이 있을 때는 유사품이라고 하듯이, 이들 명사, 형용사, 현재분사, 과거분사를 보어 비슷한 역할 하므로 보어로 처리하여[주격보어], S V C형태의 문장을 만들고 있다. 이 때 C를 유사보어라고 하며, 유사보어로 명사가 올 때는 명사 보어, 형용사가 올 때는 형용사 보어, 현재분사 보어, 과거분사 보어 등이 있다. 유사보어는 때나 동시동작의 의미가 강하다.
