Destroying industry / livelihood... Case 196. 滅産(멸산)은 남의 산업을 멸망시키는 것이다.  Myeolsan(滅産,멸산) means ruining or destroying another person′s industry(livelihood). 남의 산업을 멸망시키고 남의 것을 자기의 소유로 하면 그것이 하늘이 내려 준 복처럼 편안히 누릴 수 있을 것이며 오래갈 수 있겠는가?  If you destroy someone else′s livelihood and take their possessions as your own,   do you truly think you can enjoy them in reace,   as if they were a blessing bestowed by Heaven, and that it will last long? 하늘이 혼백을 빼앗아 자신이 저지른 일을 원망하며 살게 할 것이다.  Heaven will strip away your soul(honbaek),  leaving you to deep regret and resentment over the deeds you have committed.  [Original Text, 원문] 滅産者는 滅人之産業也라 (멸산자는 멸인지산업야라)  To destroy  livelihood(滅産,멸산) is to ruin the livelihood of another.  滅人産業하여 爲己所有면 (멸인산업하여 위기소유면)  If one ruins another′s livelihood to make it their own possession, 能安享乎아 能長久乎아 (능안향호아 능장구호아)  Can they enjoy it in peace? Can it endure for long?  (혹은 고어체 표현 : How can one enjoy it in peace, and how can it long endure?) 天奪其魄하여 與之懟頭하느니라. (천탈기백하여 여지대두하느니라.)  Heaven shall strip away their soul(魄,백),  forcing them to confront their own misdeeds face-to-face.   ※ Notes.      ●産業(산업) : 현대의 'Industry'뿐만 아니라 개인이 살아가는 기반인 'Livelihood(생업)'나                            'Property(재산)'의 의미를 모두 담고 있어 문맥상 생업의 파괴로 해석했습니다.      ● 하늘 : 단순한 'Sky'가 아닌 절대적 섭리나 신을 뜻하므로 대문자 'Heaven'으로 번역했습니다.      ● 魂魄(혼백) : 인간의 정신과 영혼을 뜻하므로 'Soul'또는 'Spirit'으로 표현하는 것이 가장 자연스럽습니다.      ● 能乎아(능호아) : 한문에서 반어법이나 강한 의문을 나타내는 의미입니다.                                   "어찌 능히 ~하겠는가?"라는 의미를 살려 설의적 질문(Can they ....,?)형태로 번역했습니다.      ● 懟頭(대두) : '머리를 맞대다', 즉 '직면하다' 혹은 "자신이 지은 죄와 정면으로 맞닥뜨려 대면하게 하다"라는 뜻입니다.                            앞선 이미지의 한국어 번역(자신이 저지른 일을 원망하며 살게한다)의 근본적인 의미인                            "자신의 과오와 마주하여 대가를 치르게 된다"는 뉘앙스를 " confront face-to-face"로 직역에                               가깝게 살렸습니다.
