Part 3
Who is the real subject of suffering?
Then the question comes up here.
Then who on earth is feeling it?
This question is very important.
The subject of suffering
is not the self.
It's the heart.
Of course, there is no fixed entity in the mind, but the mind operates according to its connections.
What is the mind?
It is a function of knowing. That is why in Buddhism, the mind is called "sik-twae."
Knowing is something you know.
It is about discerning.
In other words, it's not me who feels the suffering, but rather...
It's just that the mind knows how it feels.
Part 4
The meaning of the draft deliberation law.
Early scriptures say this:
The deliberation law text.
The mind is the root of everything.
What does this mean? It means that all the experiences we go through happen in our minds.
Suffering is also the heart.
Happiness is also a heart.
The world is ultimately an experience created by the mind.
That's why important insights emerge.
Suffering is not a problem of my as a substance, but a phenomenon that occurs within my mind.
It's not because there's an independent self that I suffer from, but rather...
It is the occurrence of a feeling of distress in the mind.
Remember this. Then your mind will be free from suffering.
Because the feeling is just a feeling.
Because that's not me.
This is actually quite an amazing story.
Who knows exactly who is amazing?
