Jim Gray reported Tuesday night that a new trade is brewing which would make Kevin Garnett a member of the Phoenix Suns . The Suns, Timberwolves and Celtics are discussing a deal with the Suns getting Garnett, the Celtics landing Phoenix forward Shawn Marion and the Wolves acquiring the fifth pick as well as a number of players from Boston. Earlier in the day, Ric Bucher reported that the Lakers discussions with the Wolves concerning Garnett had fallen apart. The current blockbuster depends on whether Marion would agree to a contract extension with the Celtics. Marion can opt out of his contract after next season. According to Gray, the Suns have already spoken to Marion about the potential trade. [READ]

The Lakers have tried to acquire Kevin Garnett directly from the Timberwolves after the Celtics withdrew from a possible four-team trade. LeBron James ended uncertainty about his status with the U.S. national team on Tuesday night by saying he will play in next month's FIBA America's Tournament, where the Americans will try to qualify for the 2008 Olympics. "I'm going to play," James told The Associated Press. "I've had enough time off, and knowing my body more than anybody, I'm ready to play. I don't know how much I'm going to play or how extensively, but I'll be ready." For several months, James had said he was "50-50" about playing for Team USA this summer. [READ]

Globe And Mail - 06/26 - 8:36 PM EST
Chris Webber is as unsure about his future in the NBA now as he was when the Detroit Pistons were eliminated in the Eastern Conference finals earlier this month. "It's only been a few weeks, so honestly I'm just resting and letting things happen," the five-time All-Star said in a telephone interview. "I just don't know what I want to do yet and I have to be fair to everyone possibly involved." Webber provided a boost to Detroit's starting lineup when he was signed in midseason following his release by the Philadelphia 76ers . Then, his uneven play in the playoffs seemed to frustrate him. "I don't want to be in a situation where I'm just going through the motions, letting everything be said about me," the 34-year-old center said earlier this month after Detroit was knocked out by the Cleveland Cavaliers . Sources: Sonics Offer Ridnour To Atlanta For 11th Pick 소닉스가 루크 를 주고 애틀의 11픽을 받아 오려 한다는 루머입니다.
Seattle PI - 06/26 - 8:20 PM EST
The Sonics are eager to begin the restructuring of their roster and have offered the Atlanta Hawks point guard Luke Ridnour for the No. 11 pick in Thursday's NBA draft, according to three NBA sources. The Hawks have long coveted Ridnour and he could be the point guard they have sought for years. Atlanta passed on New Orleans' Chris Paul and Utah's Deron Williams in the 2005 draft in favor of Bremerton's Marvin Williams. Atlanta also has another deal on the table from a third team for a point guard and is mulling that offer. If the Hawks accept Seattle's offer, the Sonics would own two of the first 11 picks and four of the first 35 and almost certainly would deal the No. 31 and 35 picks for perhaps another first-rounder or future picks. With the 11th pick, the Sonics could nab a point guard prospect such as Texas A&M's Acie Law, who worked out for the club earlier this month, or Georgia Tech's Javaris Crittenton, a freshman who would probably need a few years of seasoning before taking over the starting position. Yahoo! - 06/26 - 6:42 PM EST
The Chicago Bulls are bringing 7-footer Spencer Hawes back to Chicago on Tuesday for a second visit, two league sources said, inspiring belief that they're committed to taking him with the ninth pick. Hawes is a back-to-the-basket center with offensive skills who complements the Bulls' vast perimeter talent. Still, it will be hard to pass up Noah if he's still available at No. 9 for Chicago. "That kid was born to play for Skiles," one Eastern Conference executive said. [READ]

Ken Berger believes the most under-reported piece of information surrounding the rumors of Kevin Garnett's potential trade to the Lakers came when Ric Bucher took to the airwaves as this story was unfolding. Bucher, the reporter in whom Bryant confides, said that the possibility of playing with Garnett has not changed Bryant's desire to be traded. "[T]he words should be taken as straight from Kobe’s mouth as far as I’m concerned," writes Berger. Word should be coming directly from Bryant when he makes a public appearance this week at a basketball camp in Santa Monica, California. [READ]

The Charlotte Bobcats are making it clear: their two first round draft picks are for sale. Vice president of basketball operations Bernie Bickerstaff has fielded numerous trade offers for the eighth and 22nd picks, and could swing a deal before Thursday's draft. "Our philosophy is if you trade the picks then it has to make you immediately better," Bickerstaff said Tuesday. "There are scenarios out there that look good to us and we like because they make us better." Bickerstaff didn't reveal the teams he's talked to, but several teams, including Philadelphia, Phoenix and Golden State, have shown interest in moving up in the draft. "There are a lot of rumors, and we'd like to start some," Bickerstaff joked. [READ]

New York Post - 06/26 - 5:56 PM EST
David Lee says it's playoffs or bust next season for the Knicks. Lee, a steal with the 30th pick in 2005, doesn't think the 33-49 Knicks need a boost to their roster from Thursday's draft. "We have a chance to be great," Lee said yesterday during an appearance at the Knicks summer kids camp at Floyd Bennett Field's Aviator. "The sky's the limit. We absolutely need to make the playoffs. "We've decided as a franchise, next year that's the goal, to make the playoffs and make a push in the playoffs. Anything less is a disappointment." [READ]

Earl Boykins will become a free agent, forgoing the $3 million player option on his contract with the Milwaukee Bucks , according to the Associate Press. Last week, RealGM reported Boykins would be opting out of his contract, citing sources close to agent Mark Termini. Bucks general manager Larry Harris confirmed the 5-foot-5 Boykins, the second smallest player in NBA history, has given him no indication he intends to fulfill the option year. Boykins has until Saturday to notify the team if he plans to return. "Earl is going to be a free agent," Harris said. Grunfeld Comfortable With Staying Put At 16 위자드는 16픽으로 남는 선수들 중 최고의 선수를 뽑을 것이라고 합니다.
RealGM - 06/26 - 5:02 PM EST
Ernie Grunfeld, Wizards' President of Basketball Operations, is looking forward to making his second first round selection since he has been with the team. “We’re looking for the best player, not necessarily a big one," said Grunfeld on Tuesday. "We have some young big guys. Oleksiy Pecherov is in here working out right now. Andray Blatche, who is 6-11, is also a promising player. I don’t think we’re going to get somebody at 16 that will come in right away and help us, but if there is a good big man available or somebody drops, we’d definitely take a look at it. “We have had conversations about moving up, we’ve had conversations about moving back, and we’ve had conversations about moving the pick…just like every other team in the league. But we are comfortable with keeping the pick, and I think we’ll be able to take a solid player with a good future." [READ]

San Francisco Chronicle - 06/26 - 11:09 AM EST
Warriors guard Sarunas Jasikevicius picked up his $4 million option for next season, as expected, but it remains unlikely that Golden State will be the team issuing his paychecks. Jasikevicius, who had until Sunday to guarantee the last year of the three-year, $12 million contract he signed with the Pacers in 2005, quickly disappeared from the Warriors' rotation after arriving from Indiana in January. Though the Lithuanian was pegged as the backup to Baron Davis, Jasikevicius struggled in coach Don Nelson's open-court system and was relegated to cheerleader status during Golden State's playoff games. Atlanta Journal-Consitution - 06/26 - 11:07 AM EST
After years of passing on the likes of Deron Williams, Chris Paul and Marcus Williams, the Hawks have to address one of their biggest needs, the point guard position. They will do so when they have the greatest leverage — two top-11 picks in Thursday's NBA draft — general manager Billy Knight and coach Mike Woodson both said Monday. Woodson isn't sure who that new point guard will be, a veteran or a draft pick, but both he and Knight acknowledged that the draft — and whatever possibilities it affords — will produce a new face in the Hawks' backcourt. There are ongoing discussions concerning a four-team trade that could send Pacers forward/center Jermaine O'Neal to the Celtics, according to league sources. But those same sources said that it is extremely unlikely that O'Neal will ever play in a Boston uniform. Celtics executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge has never been a big fan of O'Neal's, and there remains the not-so-small matter of O'Neal being able to opt out of his contract after next season. Orlando To Contact Rashard, Offer Contract To Darko 올랜도는 라쉬드를 잡고 다르코와 연장계약하기 원합니다.
Orlando Sentinel - 06/26 - 11:00 AM EST
The Orlando Magic are expected to contact Seattle SuperSonics small forward Rashard Lewis and make a contract offer to power forward Darko Milicic on Sunday when the NBA free-agent market officially opens for business. While the Magic don't believe New Jersey Nets guard Vince Carter or Detroit Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups will leave their respective teams as free agents, they also will aggressively gauge their interest as well. Charlotte Bobcats guard Gerald Wallace also could be on the short list. But according to those close to the situation, the 6-foot-10 Lewis is the Magic's prime target. [READ]
Deal Between Carter, Nets To Be Reached By Saturday? 카터와 네츠가 계약에 거의 도달했다고 하네요.
New York Daily News - 06/26 - 6:16 AM EST
There is a good chance that the New Jersey Nets will sign Vince Carter for the next four years, avoiding the possibility that Carter could bolt via free agency, the New York Daily News is reporting. Carter and the Nets likely will reach an agreement on a contract extension before Saturday, the last day Carter can opt out of the final year of his current deal. Though team president Rod Thorn has remained publicly cautious while speaking of negotiations with Carter's camp, general manager Ed Stefanski said in a radio interview on Friday that the team "does not expect Vince to opt out." Carter and his agent, Kurt Schoeppler, have remained mum on the subject, but all signs point toward a deal soon. Carter has been working out regularly at the Nets' practice facility in East Rutherford, along with Jason Kidd, who has made it clear that he'd like Carter to remain his backcourt mate. Thorn admitted that Carter's presence at the Nets' headquarters is somewhat meaningful. "I would say it's a good sign," Thorn said. "It's not a done deal type of sign, but I'd say that it's a sign that he likes it here, he likes his teammates and he wants to stay here." According to sources, if Carter agrees to an extension before Saturday's deadline, he'll get a new deal that would keep him in New Jersey through the 2010-11 season, paying him roughly $15 million per season. His current deal calls for him to be paid just over $16 million next season. If he tested the free-agent market, Carter might be hard-pressed to get a deal longer than three years. [READ]

Suns Group Watches Yi's Workout In LA 선즈가 이지엔리엔의 워크아웃을 지켜봤습니다.
Arizona Republic - 06/26 - 3:52 AM EST
A Suns front office contingent of Steve Kerr, David Griffin and Vinny Del Negro traveled to Los Angeles on Monday to watch 7-foot Chinese power forward Yi Jianlian work out, further fueling the notion that Phoenix is in line to trade into the top 10 of the NBA draft. The Suns have two workouts slated Tuesday, including a closed, multiple-team workout out for Florida's Corey Brewer, a defensive small forward; Joakim Noah, an active power forward; and versatile Georgetown small forward Jeff Green. All three are pegged as top-10 picks, but Green has refused to work out for Charlotte, which picks eighth. Phoenix also is holding workouts today with Finnish point guard Petteri Koponen, Oregon point guard Aaron Brooks and Wisconsin small forward Alando Tucker, all of whom are visiting the Suns for a second time and project to be drafted where the Suns have picks, at Nos. 24 and 29. For Phoenix to move up, it might take at least the No. 24 pick and the 2008 Atlanta pick that the Hawks owe Phoenix. [READ]

Marcus Camby's agent, Rick Kaplan, said he has heard all the wild trade rumors surrounding his client that have included Indiana, Chicago, Atlanta, Washington and the Los Angeles Lakers . Kaplan, however, doesn't believe Camby will get dealt and said his client wants to remain a Nugget. "It would really surprise me if Marcus was traded. From everything the team is saying publicly, that's not a likely option," Kaplan said. "It makes little sense to trade Marcus. While he is the most tradable commodity, he might be their most important or second most important player at a decent price. Marcus is probably their best value. After much deliberation, forward Eduardo Najera has decided to stay with the Nuggets. Najera said Monday that he has decided not to opt out of the final year of his contract that pays $4.95 million next season. Mexico's lone NBA player said the deadline for his decision is Saturday and that his decision came after talking with his wife, Amy. Najera averaged 6.6 points and 4.1 rebounds last season. "I have a few more days, but I don't plan on opting out," Najera said in a phone interview. "Right now, I haven't changed my mind. I felt like opting out sometimes. Sometimes I say, 'Forget it.'
