  Item 16 : Chuin(取人,취인)... Stealing another person′s identity / name... Case 201.

取人(취인)은 남의 이름을 도둑질함이다.

  Chuin(取人,취인) means stealing another person′s name or reputation.

 
남의 공을 자신의 공으로 삼고 남의 은혜를 자신의 은혜로 삼는 것은
남에게 가르칠 일도 아니며 시샘하는 일도 아니다.

  Taking credit for another  person′s achievements and claiming another′s benevolence as one′s

   own is neither something to teach others nor something to merely envy.

이는 이익을 훔치는 것이며 명예를 도둑질 하는 일이니

  This is an act of stealing profit and robbing honor,

그 공은 헛되며 이익은 없어지며 은혜는 헛되게 되고  명예는 없게 되는 것이다.

  Therefore, the achievement becomes futile, the profit vanishes,

   the benevolence turns to naught, and the honor ceases to exist.

取人自는 竊人之名也라 (취인자는 절인지명야라)

  One who practices "Chuin'(taking credit from others) is stealing another

  person′s name and reputation.

人功을 爲己之功하며 人惠를 爲己之惠者는 非師之하며 (인공을 위기지공하며 인혜를 위기지혜자는 비사지하며 )
  To take another′s achievements as one′s own,

   and to claim another′s benevolence as one′s own kindness―this is not something

   to be taught as a lesson,  

又非媢之요 乃偸利竊譽也니 (우비모지요 내투이절예야니)

  nor is it merely a matter of flattering or envying others;

  rather, it is outright stealing profits and robbing reputation.

虛功沒利하며 虛惠無譽니라. (허공몰리하며 허혜무예니라.)

  Consequently, such false achievements will yield no real merit, the stolen profits will vanish,

  the hollow benevolence will be rendered meaningless, and no true honor will remain.
