Sing to the LORD a new song

온 땅이여 여호와께 노래할지어다

sing to the LORD, all the earth.

여호와께 노래하여 그 이름을 송축하며

proclaim his salvation day after day.

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. And he laid hold of the dragon, the serpent of old, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; and he threw him into the abyss, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he would not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were completed; after these things he must be released for a short time. 요한계시록에는 두 가지의 비밀이 언급되고 있습니다. 하나는 그리스도요, 다른 하나는 사단입니다. 그리스도의 비밀은 어려워서가 아니라 사람들이 자신들이 추구하는 관점에서는 가치 있는 것으로 여겨지지 않기 때문에 찾지 않는 것입니다. 그리고 사단은 본래보다 더 큰 존재로 확대되어서 사람들이 두려워하고 있습니다. 그러나 본래대로 돌아가면 모든 것을 있는 그대로 볼 수 있게 될 것입니다.

많은 이들이 신앙생활을 사단과 싸워 이기는 것으로 생각하고 있습니다. 하지만 주님의 사역이 사단과 씨름을 했다거나 귀신을 쫓아내기 위해 힘들어 하신 기록은 없습니다. 오직 권위로 이 일을 수행하셨을 뿐입니다. 오히려 신앙인들이 사단과의 싸움에 대하여 가지고 있는 생각은 오히려 영화나 게임 속에 있는 전투적 상황에 대한 것으로 보입니다. 하지만 신앙의 결국이 사단 문제를 해결하는 것과 연관됨은 인정할 부분입니다.

심지어 사단에 대해서 일부 목사님들조차 오해하여 사단이 하나님처럼 처음부터 존재했다고 말하는 이들도 있습니다. 이는 명백한 오류입니다. 가장 흔한 잘못된 해석은 천사장 루시퍼가 교만하여져서 하나님을 배반하고 사단이 되었다고 하는 것입니다. 이는 오직 17세기 영국 왕의 명으로 번역된 King James version에서 한 번 나타나는 것인데 이런 해석이 전반적으로 퍼지게 되었습니다.

오늘 우리의 생각해 보려는 것은 요한계시록에 나타난 이 사단의 마지막이 너무 간단하게 종결된다는 사실에서 출발합니다. 그토록 강하고 악한 사단을 주님도 아니고 한 천사가 그저 잡아 무저갱에 던져 넣는다는 것으로 끝납니다. 거기 아무런 저항이나 싸움의 기록은 전혀 나타나지 않고 있습니다. 이는 그러한 것이 마땅하기 때문입니다. 그럴 수 있기 때문입니다. 사단은 그저 때가 되면 (물론 여기 ‘때’는 시간의 언제를 말하지 않습니다.) 끝이 납니다.

그리고 또 한 가지 힌트는 에덴에서 발견할 수 있습니다. “여호와 하나님의 지으신 들짐승 중에 뱀이 가장 간교하더라.” 이 뱀은 또 너무 수월하게 에덴에 출입하며 하와와 아담과 대화를 할 수 있었습니다. 우리는 아담과 하와의 관계에 대해서 아브라함과 사라의 관계와의 유사성을 발견할 수 있습니다. 분명 하나님의 언약을 받은 이는 아브라함이지만 오직 사라의 몸에서 낳은 이삭으로 언약을 이루신다 하셨습니다. 아담과 하와도 역시 그러합니다.

이 관계들에서 우리는 그리스도와 교회의 관계를 적용할 수도 있습니다. 언약은 우리에게 오신 그리스도의 때에 하나님의 주권으로 성취되지만 그 대상으로서의 우리 자신도 언약의 성취에 반드시 동참할 존재라는 것입니다. 그런데 그러한 자리에 뱀이 올 수 있었다는 것은 사단의 권세가 그리 강해서도 아니고 어떤 계약이 있었던 것은 더욱 아닙니다. 뱀이 올 수 있었던 것은 허락된 자리였고 있을 수 있는 존재였기 때문입니다.

사단에 대한 오해는 너무 많아서 그 각각에 대한 변증을 다 하는 것이 번거로울 뿐입니다. 여기서는 결론을 말함으로 모든 오해를 푸는 방법을 택할 것입니다. 사단의 결론은 하나님께서 주신 믿음에 대한 도우미로 주신 이성이라는 것입니다. 그것이 옛 뱀의 본래 모습입니다. 이는 주께서 제자들에게 말씀하신 “뱀 같이 지혜롭고”라는 부분에 해당하는 것입니다. 우리의 믿음은 그리스도의 복음을 들음으로 갖게 됩니다. 그리고 이 믿음은 이성으로 분별되어 우리 마음에 받아들여지게 됩니다.

에덴 중앙에 있던 두 나무, 즉 생명나무와 선악지식의 나무 중, 그리스도와의 연합을 믿음으로 삶의 방식을 갖게 되면 이성은 충실한 도우미로 필요하지만 믿음을 떠나 선악을 아는 지식으로 하나님의 온전함에 나아가려 한다면 그 때는 이성이 오히려 왕 노릇을 하게 됩니다. 그리고 선악의 지식나무의 삶의 방식에는 항상 완전함에 비교하여 불완전한 상태에 놓이게 되어 늘 정죄감의 소지가 남아 있고 그것이 욕구를 만들어냅니다.

그리고 그 이면에는 실패에 대한 두려움과 상대적 상실감 등이 인격을 지배하게 되어 이러한 욕구와 두려움이 쌓이고 모이면 거대한 지성의 권력을 형성하게 되는데 이를 두고 용의 권세라 하는 것입니다. 성경에는 이를 공중 권세 잡은 자 혹은 공기의 왕자라고 표현하였습니다. 물론 그런 지성의 권력이 개인에게 혹은 집단에게 집중하여 권력집단을 형성하기도 합니다. 그러므로 사단은 믿음이 배제된 이성이 인간의 욕구를 통하여 형성된 지성의 권력을 말합니다.

그러므로 우리가 그리스도와 연합한 믿음을 회복하게 되면 사단과 싸워서가 아니라 사단이 본래의 도우미의 모습인 이성의 위치로 가게 되므로 우리의 싸움은 사단과 더불어 이루어지지 않습니다. 그저 그것은 제 자리로 돌아가게 됩니다. 지금은 개인 안에서 이러한 일들이 이루어지지만 이것이 점점 확장되고 전파되면 전 세계적인 현상이 되어 나타날 것입니다.

There are two secrets mentioned in the Book of Revelation: one is Christ, the other is the division. The secret of Christ is not because it is difficult, but because people do not look for it because it is not considered valuable in the way they seek it. And the division has expanded into something larger than it was, and people are afraid. But if you go back to what it was, you will be able to see everything as it is.

Many view life of faith as fighting and winning against divisions. However, there is no record of the Lord's ministry wrestling with the division or struggling to expel ghosts. You did this only with authority. Rather, it appears that the believers' thoughts about fighting against the division are rather about the combative circumstances in movies and games. However, it is admitted that the end of faith is related to resolving the division's problem.

Even some pastors misunderstand the division and say that it existed from the beginning like God. This is a clear fallacy. The most common misinterpretation is that Emperor Lucifer was arrogant, betrayed God, and became a division. This is only once in the King James version, which was translated into the order of the King of England in the 17th century, and this interpretation has spread throughout.

And what we're thinking about today is that the end of this division in the Book of Revelation ends so simply. It ends with an angel, not even the Lord, just catching and throwing such a strong and evil division into the bottomless pit. There's no record of any resistance or fight there, because that's the way it should be. It just ends when the time is right (and of course "the time" here doesn't say when the time is right).

And another hint can be found in Eden. "Of the wild animals built by Jehovah and God, the snake was the most devious." This snake also made it so easy to enter Eden and talk to Hawa and Adam. We can find similarities between Abraham and Sarah about Adam's relationship with Ha. Obviously, it was Abraham who received the covenant of God, but he made it only with the ears of Sarah's body. So are Adam and Hawa.

In these relationships, we can also apply the relationship between Christ and the Church. The covenant is achieved by God's sovereignty at the time of Christ who came to us, but as an object we ourselves must participate in the achievement of the covenant. However, the power of the division is not so strong that snakes were able to come to such a place, and it is not that there was any contract. Because snakes were allowed to come, they were allowed to be and could be.

There are so many misunderstandings about the division that it is only cumbersome to make all the excuses for each one. We will choose to resolve all the misunderstandings here by stating the conclusion. The division's conclusion is that it is a reason given as a helper to the faith given by God. That's the original form of the old snake. This corresponds to the "snake-like wisdom" part that the Lord told his disciples. By listening to the gospel of Christ, our faith comes to us. And this belief is discriminated by reason and accepted in our minds.

Reason is needed as a faithful helper if we have a way of life in faith in the union with Christ among the two trees in the center of Eden, the Tree of Life and the Tree of Good and Bad Knowledge. However, reason becomes king if we leave faith and try to advance to God's integrity with knowledge of good and evil. And the way of life of the tree of knowledge of good and evil is always incomplete in comparison to perfection, which always leaves a sense of guilt and creates desire.

And behind it, the fear of failure and relative loss dominate personality, and when these desires and fears accumulate and gather, they form enormous intellectual power, which is called the power of the dragon. In the Bible, it was described as a man in the air, or a prince of the air. Of course, such intellectual power may concentrate on individuals or groups to form power groups. Therefore, the division refers to the power of intelligence formed by human needs, with reason to which faith is excluded.

So if we restore the faith that is united with Christ, we don't fight the division, but the division goes to the position of reason, which is the original helper, so our fight doesn't happen with the division. It just gets back to where it is. These things are happening within the individual now, but as it expands and spreads, it's going to become a worldwide phenomenon.
