갈기

전영귀

기세가 먼저고 바람은 다음 일이었다

천지간 物은 그의 갈기를 뒤따르고

경주마가 들판의 속도를 잊어 버리면

앞발을 저버리는 거라고

물길도 산길도 풀쩍풀쩍 뛰어넘던 남자

뒷발이 일으키는 자욱한 먼지 속에

조바심은 늘 나의 재갈이었다

패배를 외면한 채 질주하던

풍성한 그의 갈기, 잿빛 서리 내려앉자

바람이 기세를 앞서는 날 잦아졌다

아직도

그만의 서사를 바라볼 수밖에 없는

여인의 심장만 갈기갈기 찢어진다

Mane

Jeon Young-gui

His force came first,

and the wind came afterward.

Everything in heaven and earth

followed behind his mane.

When a racehorse forgets

the speed of the open field,

they say it has betrayed its forelegs.

He was a man who leaped,

lightly and without hesitation,

over streams and mountain paths.

Amid the thick clouds of dust

kicked up by his hind legs,

my worry was always the bridle.

He raced on,

turning his face away from defeat.

But when frost-gray began to settle

upon his luxuriant mane,

there came more and more days

when the wind outran his force.

Even now,

I have no choice but to watch

the story that belongs to him alone.

And only the heart of the woman

who can do nothing but watch his story

is torn to pieces.
