Vietnam culture week to kick off in RoK

A week dedicated to Vietnamese culture is about to start in the Republic of Korea (RoK) with a show of 14 musical performances by Vietnamese artists.

The event, which kicks off from November 10, is important in bolstering Vietnam-RoK ties, Minister of Cuture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said at the final rehearsal. “The Culture Week will be a critical landmark to commemorate the 15th anniversary of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic relations,” he said.

The culture week must be designed to help the people of the RoK better understand the culture of Vietnam, he said. “Every artist joining the show must act as a friendship messenger to strengthen the relations between the two countries”.

Among the pieces presented at the opening ceremony will be three RoK songs and symphonies.

Also part of the cultural festivities will be a get-together with Vietnamese brides and workers living in the RoK.

A similar RoK culture week will be held in Vietnam by late November, according to sources from the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Several artistic exchange programmes have been held recently with a view to introducing the RoK movie industry to Vietnamese students and young producers. RoK movie makers and professors have just wrapped up a two-day presentation and exchange workshop from November 8 to 9 with students and lecturers at the Ho Chi Minh Movie and Stage College.
