아메리칸 조크(6) 코끼리를 처음 본 블론드 여인

A young blonde woman from a large city that had never been out of the city, met and fell in love with a country gentleman.
The country gentleman was a very prosperous farmer. The city woman became madly in love with the Farmer and the farmer was very happy to have such a nice gentle woman.

They married and went to the country, on the farm to live.
The woman was amazed at all the "strange" animals that roamed the farm, chickens, cows, pigs and so on. All this was new to the city woman.

One day a circus came to a nearby town and set up the tent. As the roustabouts were setting up the tent the elephant escaped. Finding the elephant proved fruitless.

One morning the new farm wife was doing the breakfast dishes and look out the window and saw the elephant in her garden.

She rushed to the phone and called the sheriff, "sheriff, sheriff, there's a strange animal in my garden and pulling out my vegetables with it's tail."

The sheriff asks, "what is the animal doing with the vegetables?" and the wife answers, "you wouldn't believe me if I told you."

도시 밖으로 나가본 일이 없는 큰 도시 출신의 어느 젊은 블론드 여인이 시골 신사를 만나 사랑에 빠졌다.
그 시골 신사는 아주 성공한 농부였다. 그 도시 여자는 그 농부를 미치게 사랑하게 되었고 그 농부는 그렇게 멋진 얌전한 여인을 갖게 되어 무척 행복하였다.

그들은 결혼하여 농장에서 살기 위하여 시골로 갔다.
여자는 농장을 돌아다니는 닭, 소, 돼지 같은 모든 이상한 동물들에 매료되었다. 이 모든 것이 도시의 그 여인에게는 처음 보는 것이었다.

어느 날 서커스단이 동네 가까이로 와서 천막을 쳤다. 인부들이 천막을 치고 있을 때 코끼리가 탈출하였다. 코끼리를 찾아도 성과가 없었다.

어느 날 아침 그 농장에 갓 온 아내가 아침 설거지를 하고 있었는데 창밖을 내다보다가 그녀의 정원에서 코끼리를 보았다.

그녀는 전화기로 달려가서 보안관에게 전화를 걸었다, "보안관님, 보안관님, 제 정원에 이상한 동물이 있는데 꼬리로 제 야채들을 뽑고 있습니다."

보안관이 물었다, "그 동물이 그 야채로 뭘 하고 있습니까?" 그러자 그 아내가 대답하였다, "제가 말씀드려도 절 믿지 못할 겁니다."
