제1장.上經(상경) 21訓(훈) 157事(사). 제1 강령 성(誠).....정성.....第1事(제1사) 제2체 正心(정심).....내 마음 속의 올바름......第12事 Chapter 2 : jeong - sim(正心,정심) ... Correctness Within My Heart... Article 12. ◆ Guide ◆ The second foundation for offering sincterity is having a righteous mind( Jeong - sim). To achieve this, there are nine specific methods of practice listed below :     ● Article 10(ltem 13) : Ui - sik(意植,의식) - Taking root within thee mind.     ● Article 11(ltem 14) : Ip - sin(立身,입신) - Establishing the body uprightly.    ● Article 12(ltem 15) : Bul - hok(不惑,불혹) - Not falling into delusion or temptation.    ● Article 13(ltem 16) : Il - eo (溢嚴,일엄) - Being overglowing with solemnity    ● Article 14(ltem 17) : Heo - ryeong(虛靈,허령) - The spirit that emerges from "nothingness."    ● Article 15(ltem 18) : Chi - ji(致知,치지) - Reaching the state of enlightenment/ wisdom.    ● Article 16(ltem 19) : Pe -mul(閉物,폐물) - Not opening oneself to the[distracting] logic                                          of external objects    ● Article 17(ltem 20) : Cheok - jeong(斥情,척정) -Casting away carnal desires and passions.    ● Article 18(ltem 21) : Muk -an(默安,묵안) - Casting away carnal desires and passions.   [ Summary of the philosophy( Combined from previous pages)]   ※ The purpose of Rituals.       The texts emphasize that whether it is through Propriety(禮,예), Stillness(肅靜,숙정),      or Righteousness(正心,정심), the goal is to align the human spirit with      the One God(Hananim).   ◆ Intecurring vs. External ◆         A recurring theme throughout these documents is that the external       environment( the :Pure Chamber") and physical actions(lighting incense) are merely tools.      The true "ritual" happens internally :        ● Qi vs. Ri : Stabilizing the changing energy (Qi) to reveal the eternal principle(Ri).         ● Sinserity(誠,성) :The "line of sincerity" is what connects a human to the divine.        ● Humanity : God resides within humans, therefore, serving humanity with              "profound kindness" is the highest form of worship.   ▣ Key Cultural Context ▣        These documents appear to be modern commentaries on ancient korean        scriptures such as the Samil Sindo and Chamjeongye - gyeong.       They represent a tradition(likely Daejonggyo) that seeks to restore the spiritual       heritage of the "Baedal" (korean) people by focusing on self - cultivation and        the "Hongik Ingan" philosophy(broadly benefiting the human world).
