뿌리의 힘

이규흥

오래된 나무는

땅속 깊은 곳에

뿌리를 박고

그 뿌리의 힘으로 

커다란 몸체를

견고하게 지탱해 간다

알아주는 이 없어도

마음 깊은 곳에

뿌리를 내리고

묵묵히 자신의 길을

걸어가는 사람의

뿌리는 깊다

따뜻한 세상을 향해

얼굴을 드러내지 않고

뿌리의 영역을 넓혀 가는 

그 사람의 마음은 한없이 깊다

Power of Roots

Old trees send their roots

deep into the earth,

and keep their mighty trunks standing firm

through the strength of those roots.

Those who are rooted deep in their hearts

and quietly continue on their way, unnoticed,

often possess roots that run deep.

Those who keep spreading their roots

without turning their faces toward the glitter of the world

surely possess hearts of profound depth.
