1. Gaza City. Palestinian children at the site of Israeli strikes. Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to ‘finish the job’ in Gaza, adding that recognition of a Palestinian state was ‘insane’ as delegations walked out of his address to the UN. Days after Australia, Canada, France, the UK and other countries broke with the US to recognise an independent Palestinian state, the Israeli prime minister called a two-state solution ‘sheer madness.
