The Avatamsaka Sutra, The Ten Abodes (십주품 17-6)

[眞如華]

     17-6.

     何以故      欲令增長一切種智      有所聞法      卽自開解      不由他敎故

     무슨 까닭인가. 그로 하여금 일체 종지가 더욱 자라게 하고, 법을 듣고는 곧 스스로 잘 알아서 다른 이의 가르침을 말미암지 않게 하려는 연고이니라.

What is the reason? To increase in knowledge of all particulars and all means of liberation and spontaneously understand any teaching without depending on the instruction of another.

What is the reason; 무슨 까닭인가

To increase; 더욱 자라게 하고

in knowledge of all particulars and all means of liberation

; 그로 하여금 일체 종지가

spontaneously understand any teaching

; 법을 듣고는 곧 스스로 잘 알아서

without depending on; 말미암지 않게 하려는 연고이니라

the instruction of another; 다른 이의 가르침을
