송미령 농림축산식품부 장관이 25일 스타벅스코리아의 역사 폄훼 논란과 관련해 “이런 기회에 우리 좋은 국내산 농작물·농산물로 만든 차들도 많이 드셔주시면 좋을 듯하다”고 말했다.

송 장관은 이날 유튜브 ‘장윤선의 취재편의점’에 출연해 진행자가 이번 사태에 대한 농식품부의 대책을 묻자 “굉장히 유감스러운 일”이라면서 이같이 밝혔다. 송 장관은 “엄중하게 상황을 봐야 할 것 같다”며 “같이 사는 공동체인데, 도를 넘은 조롱이나 비하 이런 것들이 너무 안타깝다”고 말했다.

앞서 스타벅스코리아는 지난 18일 5·18 민주화운동 기념일 당일에 이른바 ‘탱크 데이’(Tank Day) 이벤트를 진행하면서 5·18 정신 폄훼 논란에 휩싸였고, 공직사회 등을 중심으로 스타벅스의 상품을 불매하자는 움직임이 학산되고 있다.

앞서 행정안전부, 국가보훈부, 국방부, 법무부, 보건복지부 등이 스타벅스 상품 불매운동에 나섰으며 뒤이어 전국공무원노동조합도 이에 동참했다.

다만 농식품부는 스타벅스 불매 운동 동참 여부에 대해 공식 입장이 없다고 밝혔다. 농식품부 관계자는 “공직사회 불매운동의 취지에는 공감하지만 아직까지 부처 차원의 대응은 없을 것”이라고 말했다.
