Bourbon Eggnog
(serves 8)
A Christmastime favorite. Makes one quart, but can easily be doubled or tripled.
6 eggs, separated
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup bourbon (or rye) whiskey
1/2 cup brandy
3 cups heavy cream
grated nutmeg
* Beat egg yolks with sugar until light yellow.
Add bourbon and brandy and blend well.
Refrigerate several hours or overnight.
Whip cream till slightly thickened and fold into yolk mixture.
Beat egg whites till peaks form and fold into mixture.
Chill ready to serve.
Serve in punch cups with a few gratings of nutmeg.
Makes eight 4-oz servings.
