As expected, Bono and The Edge represented the band as U2 was honored with the Sonny Bono Visionary Award Saturday night at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. The Edge spoke first (and spoke briefly) when U2 was called to the stage, telling the audience that the band is honored to be the first musicians to accept an award that's usually given to film directors. Bono then spoke for a few minutes, praising some of the actors and actresses in the audience for their activism and talking about the fight against AIDS in Africa, among other things.
