Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.

Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

그러므로 너희가 그리스도와 함께 다시 살리심을 받았으면 위엣 것을 찾으라 거기는 그리스도께서 하나님 우편에 앉아 계시느니라 위엣 것을 생각하고 땅엣 것을 생각지 말라 이는 너희가 죽었고 너희 생명이 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감취었음이니라 우리 생명이신 그리스도께서 나타나실 그 때에 너희도 그와 함께 영광 중에 나타나리라 골로새서 3:1-4

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4

우리가 그리스도와 연합한 것을 언급하면서 종종 인용하는 구절이 “너희 생명이 그리스도와 함께 하나님 안에 감취었음이니라.”입니다. 그러면 우리는 생각하기를 ‘하나님 안에 있는 나는 누구이며 또 현재를 살고 있는 나는 누구인가?’ 할 것입니다. 우리의 구속이 결국 자신에 대한 인식에서 출발하는 것을 생각하면 이는 마땅히 풀고 가야할 문제입니다. 그래서 오늘은 하나님 안에 감추인 우리의 생명에 대해 생각해 보겠습니다.

생명을 생각해 볼 때 주께서 “내가 곧 길이요, 진리요, 생명이라.”하신 것을 떠 올리게 됩니다. 생명은 그 자체로 분리되어 존재하지 않습니다. 즉 생명이라 하실 때는 그 생명이 담긴 몸과 온 인격을 전제로 하게 됩니다. 그래서 성경에 “생명”이라 번역된 이 표현은 때로는 살아있는 존재 자체를 가리키기도 합니다. 즉 우리의 생명이 하나님 안에 감취었다는 표현에는 분리된 생명이 아닌 전체로서의 살아있는 나 자신을 가리키는 의미가 담겨 있습니다.

요한복음 14장에는 주께서 연합에 대하여 이렇게 표현한 구절이 나옵니다. “그 날에는 내가 아버지 안에, 너희가 내 안에, 내가 너희 안에 있는 것을 너희가 알리라.” 이는 연합되어 있는 상태가 곧 본질의 일치를 이루는 것을 말합니다. 즉 그리스도와 더불어 우리의 생명이 하나님 안에 감취었다는 것은 본질의 일치가 하나님께로부터 우리의 인격과 삶에까지 이어져 흐르고 있다는 것입니다.

그럼 우리가 주와 연합할 때 무슨 일이 일어났기에 이런 상황이 가능한 것일까요? 바울은 이를 두고 “이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 너를 해방하였음이라.”로마서 8:2 라고 선언합니다. 이 해방은 실은 음부에서의 주님의 선언을 말합니다. “육체로는 죽임을 당하시고 영으로는 살리심을 받으셨으니 저가 또한 영으로 옥에 있는 영들에게 전파하시니라.” 베드로전서 3:18-19

하나님께서는 창조가 아직 없었던 상황에서도 존재하셨기에 우리는 그 상황을 영원이라 일컫습니다. 그리고 세상을 창조하실 때 보이지 않는 하늘과 보이는 세상을 함께 창조하시고 친히 그 하늘에 임재하셨습니다. 보이는 것들은 보이지 않는 하늘로부터 말미암아 나타났습니다. 거기에는 하나님과 예수님, 천사들과 우리의 죽은 영혼들이 존재합니다. 그리고 하늘과 이 세상은 서로 상호작용하면서 존재합니다.

영원은 우리가 세상에서 늘 경험하는 인과의 법칙에서 초월해 있는 세계입니다. 따라서 우리는 영원을 인식할 능력이 없습니다. 하지만 우리의 영은 하나님의 본질과 같은 존재이므로 영원에 존재하며 역시 인과의 법칙에 적용되지 않습니다. 주께서 음부에 갇힌 영들에게 선포하신 일은 영원에서 발생하였고 즉각 우리의 영은 해방되었습니다. 하지만 이는 우리의 현재를 기준하여 볼 때 과거에 발생한 것이 아닙니다.

우리가 현실에서 주와 연합함으로 우리 영이 해방되었음을 알면 우리 영은 해방된 것이고 이를 모르고 그대로 살면 여전히 옥에 갇힌 것입니다. 그러나 또한 이것이 현실의 나의 인식이 원인이 되어 영원의 영을 해방하느냐 하지 못하느냐를 결정짓는 것도 아닙니다. 오직 하나님의 주권이 이를 결정짓습니다. 우리 생명이 하나님 안에 감취었음은 하나님의 모든 섭리와 목적이 우리의 성숙한 자유에 집중되어 있음을 뜻합니다.

The phrase we often quote when referring to our union with Christ is, "your life is hidden with Christ in God." Then we will think, "Who am I in God and who am I living in the present?" Considering that our restoration eventually starts from our perception of ourselves, this is a matter to be solved. So today, we will think about our lives hidden in God.

When we think of life, we think of the Lord's saying, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Life does not exist separately by itself. In other words, when you say life, you presuppose the body and the whole person containing that life. Therefore, this expression‎, which is translated as "life" in the Bible, sometimes refers to living beings themselves. In other words, the expression‎ that our lives are infiltrated into God contains a meaning that refers to myself as a whole, not a separate life.

In chapter 14 of the Gospel of John, there is a phrase of the LORD'S union: "In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you." This refers to the unity of nature in a unified state. In other words, the fact that our lives, along with Christ, are ingrained in God means that the unity of nature extends from God to our personality and life.

So what made this possible when we united with the Lord? Paul said, "the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death." This liberation actually refers to the Lord's proclamation in the sheol. "having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit; in which also He went and made proclamation to the spirits now in prison," Peter 3:18-19

We call this situation eternity because God existed even when creation had not yet existed. And when you created the world, you created the invisible sky and the visible world together and were personally present in that sky. The things you see are from the invisible sky. There are God, Jesus, angels, and our dead souls. And the sky and this world interact with each other.

Eternity is a world that transcends the laws of causation that we always experience in the world. Therefore, we do not have the ability to recognize eternity. However, because our spirit is the same as God's essence, it exists in eternity and also does not apply to the laws of causation. What the Lord proclaimed to the spirits trapped in the yinbu occurred in eternity, and our spirit was immediately liberated. However, this did not occur in the past based on our present.

If we know that our spirit has been liberated by the union with the Lord in reality, our spirit has been liberated, and if we live without knowing it, we are still trapped in prison. However, this also does not determine whether or not my perception of reality is the cause of liberating the spirit of eternity. Only God's sovereignty determines this. The fact that our lives are ingrained in God means that all of God's providence and purpose are focused on our mature freedom.
