Are we truly prepared /for the good work () God is calling us to,

or do we still need [the Lord] [to cleanse us]?

20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay;

some are for special purposes and some for common use.

21 [Those //who cleanse themselves /from the latter] will be instruments for special purposes,

made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

* 명사로 쓰인 the latter ; the+형=복수명사, 둘째 것들 (the latter=wood and clay=the dishonorable)

* latter, 형용사  being the second mentioned of two (distinguished from former) 둘째인

* 주의 later, 부사, which strictly refers to a time after the present or a future point in time 특정한 시간 다음에

Amplified Bible
Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself /from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful],

he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and],

useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

New Living Translation

20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made /of gold and silver, and some are made /of wood and clay.

The expensive utensils are used /for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use.

21 If you keep [yourself] [pure], you will be a special utensil for honorable use.

Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master /to use you for every good work.

* 숙어 Made of" is used when the original material is clearly visible, like a wooden table. 만들어진 원료가 보일 때 씀

"Made from" is used when it's not clearly visible. 원료가 안 보일 때 씀 paper is made from trees. 

* 형용사 Everyday ; ordinary, routine, or common. 일상적인 Everyday English 일상적인 영어/일상어/회화체
