Are we truly prepared /for the good work () God is calling us to,
or do we still need [the Lord] [to cleanse us]?

20 In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay;
some are for special purposes and some for common use.
21 [Those //who cleanse themselves /from the latter] will be instruments for special purposes,
made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.

Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself /from these things [which are dishonorable—disobedient, sinful],
he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified [set apart for a special purpose and],
useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.

20 In a wealthy home some utensils are made /of gold and silver, and some are made /of wood and clay.
The expensive utensils are used /for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use.
21 If you keep [yourself] [pure], you will be a special utensil for honorable use.
Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master /to use you for every good work.
