I said yesterday that the homework consists of "conversation pieces", data around which to organize our discussion of the various problems that inhere in each activity (Greeting/Meeting, Chat and the 출석부, Listen and Do, etc.).
I also said that talk is hard to talk about, and text is a little easier. So as a result we won't do much "stand up and teach"; we'll do a fair amount of looking at transcripts instead. But transcripts don't show us what COULD happen. They only show what DID happen. So the purpose of THIS homework is to show what MIGHT happen.
Finally, I said I would join the homework and provide a kind of example. The purpose of this is really to show you FORM and also the QUANTITY of what an answer might look like, so you don't kill yourselves with homework.
And that's what I'm going to do NOW.
I took the last two items, "Ask and Answer" and "Let's Play", that is, Pairwork and Role Play/Games. Here are the questions I am supposed to answer.
1.1 Ask and Answer
Your teaching point: “Can you help me?” “Yes/no, I can(‘t)”. “Why (not)?”
Your teaching tools: These two puppets:
Your teaching problems:
a) How do you cast closed pairs and set open tasks?
b) How do you present the outcome of closed pair work?
c) How do you correct mistakes?
Now, I'm just going to give the TEACHER TALK, because if the children can understand then I guess everybody else can understand to.
a) (to Il-hyeok) Now, YOU are the grasshopper. And (to Jeong-a) YOU are the ant. Eunhae, who are you? The grasshopper or the ant? Eunhae is the grasshopper, so Eunkyeong is...? Good! One of you is the grasshopper and one is the ant!
b) In five minutes, two of you stand up and show us! (...) Now, let's CHOOSE together. YOU sing, and I point:
(to the tune of "Are you sleeping?" Children and teacher sing together and teacher points to the pairs one by one. The last pair must stand up and play!)
Will you help me? Will you help me?
No, I won't! No, I won't.
Will you show your role play? Will you show your role play?
No, I can't, YES, YOU WILL!!!!!
c) Everybody! Let's watch Eunhae and Eunkyeong play...The GRASSHOPPER AND THE ANT! 박수!.... (Teacher and children watch little Eunhae and Eunkyeong. But during the performance the teacher can SWITCH actors for each character by using 얼음땡!)
2 Let’s Play
Your teaching point: “Look! This is a rock/paper/scissors” “When the rock meets the scissors, who wins?” “Why?”
Your teaching tools: A pair of hands, a gesture for dragon, turtle, rabbit
Your teaching problems:
a) How do you present the AIM of the game?
b) How do you present the PARTS and MOVES of the game?
c) How do you present the OUTCOME of the game?
Once again, I'll just give teacher talk. Like this:
a) Let's play "the Dragon, the Turtle, and the Rabbit". It's like "rock, paper, scissors". But there's a story!
b) Look! (shows "scissors") This is a RABBIT. (What is it?) The rabbit's name is Robert. (Who?) Robert the Rabbit. And this is aTURTLE. (What is it?) The turtle's name is Tina. (Who?) Tina the Turtle. And this is a DRAGON. What's his name? Good! Draco the Dragon. Draco is King of the Sea! So we'll call him King Draco.
Now, the king meets the turtle. (Tina or Robert?) King Drago meets Tina. (The rabbit or the turtle?) King Draco is STRONG. And Tina is? (Weak). Who wins? Why?
Today, though, King Drago is sick. (Is he sick or well?) He wants a liver. He wants a RABBIT liver. (What does he want?) So Tina goes to see Robert. (Who?) Tina says "Come with me! Under the sea!" (He says...?) But Robert says "I can't swim!" Tina says "I can swim! Ride on me!" And Robert says "OK!" Who wins? Why?
Now, King Drago meets Robert. He's sick. He's hungry. Robert says "Nice to meet you!" King Draco says "Nice to EAT you!" What does Robert say? Who wins? Why?
c) Now, let's play THE RABBIT, THE TURTLE, AND THE DRAGON! First, I play with Yura. Then the winner plays Seonhye! The winner of winners gets...no homework!
첫댓글 Thank you, professor! I'll have to try to beat you and then Soenhye in order to do no homework? :)!! The question I got is about chants, and I'd just like to know if the CHANTS necessarily have to be the ones in the textbook? Can I use a repetition of a certain word with rythm?
Sure, Yura. Give it a try.
