그 때에 예수께서 성령에게 이끌리어 마귀에게 시험을 받으러 광야로 가사 사십 일을 밤낮으로 금식하신 후에 주리신지라 시험하는 자가 예수께 나아와서 가로되 네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든 명하여 이 돌들이 떡덩이가 되게 하라 예수께서 대답하여 가라사대 기록되었으되 사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니요 하나님의 입으로 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살 것이라 하였느니라. 마태복음 4:1-4

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became hungry. And the tempter came and said to Him, "If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread." But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'" Matthew 4:1-4

주께서 광야에서 행하신 40일간의 금식은 이스라엘의 출애굽 후 40년의 광야 생활을 떠 올리게 합니다. 실제 그러합니다. 주님은 40년간 광야에서 죽은 이스라엘의 실패를 대신 승리하는 방편을 알게 하신 것입니다. 그리고 그 금식은 실상 기도였다는 데에 모두 동의하실 것입니다. 주님은 “ 이르시되 기도 외에 다른 것으로는 이런 유가 나갈 수 없느니라 하시니라.” 마가복음 9:29 하셨고 모든 일을 하실 때 기도로 임하셨던 것을 우리는 잘 압니다.

지금까지 우리는 영원토록 실상으로 남는 것은 오직 믿음이라는 이름의 천국뿐이라는 사실을 이야기했습니다. 그러면 이제 생각할 것은 ‘과연 이 믿음이 무엇인가?’입니다. 우리에게 있어서의 믿음은 무엇을 말할까요? 믿음이 성장한다는 것은 가나안 땅의 유업이 확장한다는 것과도 같음을 알게 되었습니다. 그리고 아브라함에게 있어서 보이는 실제의 가나안 땅이 아닌 보이지 않는 믿음의 영역, 즉 그리스도의 때를 보게 된 것이 약속의 실제였던 것입니다.

주께서 광야에서 행하신 40일의 금식과 기도, 그리고 그 때 당하신 시험은 과거 이스라엘이 광야에서 죽을 수밖에 없었던 요소들을 떠올리게 합니다. 그리고 동시에 오늘을 살아가는 주와 연합한 우리들의 믿음의 의미를 알려 주고 있습니다. 지금 언급한 바처럼 주께서 이스라엘의 실패를 오히려 승리로 바꾸시는 금식과 기도를 행하셨다면 그 다음 순서는 가나안 땅에 들어가는 것입니다.

주께서는 하나님이시니 당연히 그 시험을 이기실 것이라 할 수 있습니다. 하지만 만일 이 시험을 통과하신 일이 우리들의 갈 길을 보여주신 것이라면 우리는 그 의미를 다시 생각하고 자신에게 적용해 보는 것이 마땅할 것입니다. 주님의 모든 시험은 한 가지 공통된 단서가 붙습니다. 그것은 “네가 만일 하나님의 아들이어든”입니다. 주께서 과연 자신이 하나님의 아들이라는 사실에 의심을 갖고 계셨을까요? 그렇지 않을 것입니다.

하지만 인간으로서의 주님, 그리고 오늘을 살아가는 우리들에게 적용하려 한다면 이 시험의 조건은 심각하게 생각해 보아야 할 것입니다. 왜냐하면 그 질문은 모든 믿는 사람들이 쉽게 말하는 하나님의 아들의 의미가 아니기 때문입니다. 저는 위에서 믿음의 의미가 무엇인지를 물었습니다. 주님은 믿음 없는 기도는 두 마음을 품는 것과 같다고 하셨습니다. 잠시 믿음과 기도에 대한 부분을 살펴보겠습니다.

사람들은 무엇이 부족할 때 기도를 합니다. 그것은 이루어질 것이라는 믿음에서 하는 것이 아니라 무언가가 없다는 믿음에서 하는 것입니다. 그것은 세상이 아무 것에나 복을 비는 것과도 같은 행위입니다. 우리의 기도는 믿음에서 시작합니다. 그리고 우리의 믿음은 우리의 바람이 하나님 안에서 이미 성취되었음을 알고 믿는 것입니다. 우리의 바람은 무엇입니까? 그리스도의 장성한 분량의 충만한 데까지 자라는 것입니다.

그럼 그것이 성취 되었다는 것은 내가 그리스도가 되었다는 것입니다. 이를 믿는 것입니다. 그리고 그것을 믿는 믿음에서 기도를 하는 것입니다. 이것이 하나님의 아들로서 주께서 받으신 시험들의 의미입니다. 우리가 가나안에 들어간다는 의미는 내가 그리스도라는 사실을 믿고 이를 두고 기도와 금식으로 시험을 통과한 것을 말합니다. 거기에 비로소 유업의 세계가 있습니다.

The 40 days of fasting performed by the Lord in the wilderness reminds us of the 40 years of the wilderness after Israel's Exodus. That is true. You have learned how to win over Israel's failure to die in the wilderness for 40 years. And you can all agree that the fast was actually a prayer. "But say that nothing other than prayer can go out," the Lord said. We know that Maga 9:29 and that when you did everything you did, you did everything with prayer.

So far, we have talked about the fact that the only thing that will remain true forever is a heaven named faith. So what is this belief that we will think about now? What does faith say to us? We have learned that faith growth is the same as the expansion of the Canaanite dairies. And it was the actual promise that Abraham was to see the invisible realm of faith, the time of Christ, not the actual Canaan land that he saw.

The LORD'S 40 days of fasting and prayer in the wilderness, and the test he was tested at that time, remind us of the elements that Israel was forced to die in the wilderness in the past. And at the same time, it tells us the meaning of our faith in the union with the state that lives today. As mentioned now, if the LORD has fasted and prayed to turn Israel's failure into victory, the next step is to enter the land of Canaan.

Because the Lord is God, of course he will win the test. But if your passing this test showed us our way, we would deserve to rethink the meaning and apply it to ourselves. All of the Lord's tests have one common clue. It is "if you are the son of God." Did the Lord really have doubts about the fact that he was the son of God? I don't think so.

But the conditions of this test must be seriously considered if it is to be applied to the Lord as a human being and to those of us living today. Because the question is not the meaning of the Son of God, which all believers say easily. I asked what faith means above. The Lord said that praying without faith is like embracing two hearts. Let's take a look at faith and prayer for a moment.

People pray when something is lacking. It is not done in the belief that it will be achieved, but in the belief that there is nothing. It is the same act as the world praying for anything. Our prayers begin with faith. And our faith is to know and believe that our wishes have already been fulfilled in God. What is our desire? To grow to the fullness of Christ's grown-up proportions.

Then the achievement means that I have become Christ. To believe this. And to pray in faith in it. This is the meaning of the tests the Lord took as the Son of God. To enter Canaan means to believe that I am Christ and pass the test through prayer and fasting. There is a world of dairying.
