During the interrogation earlier, the priests and scribes mocked Jesus, and now, as Jesus is dying, they continue to ridicule Him.
At one point, these seemingly serious and devout priests and scribes might have genuinely believed in God and received salvation through His grace. However, these same individuals are now insulting Jesus in His moment of suffering.
Furthermore, they witnessed Jesus placing trust in God, which implies their lack of trust in Him. Their interests lie solely in their wealth, power, or in preserving these possessions.
Behaviors akin to those of the priests and scribes still exist today. The question arises: how many individuals within the church truly believe in Jesus? Those who work for Jesus and speak His words often find themselves marginalized and scorned within the church.
