The Avatamsaka Sutra, The Ten Abodes (십주품 29-2)

[眞如華]

     29-2.

     欲具演說一句法      阿僧祗劫無有盡

     而令文義各不同      菩薩以此初發心

     한 구절의 법문을 갖추어 말하면

     아승지겁으로도 다할 수 없고

     글과 뜻도 제각기 같지 않나니

     보살이 이를 위해 처음으로 발심하였네.

Wanting to expound the one phrase teaching

For incalculable eons without exhausting it

Yet have the expressions and nuances be each different

Do enlightening beings therefore arouse this will.

the one phrase teaching; 한 구절의 법문을

Wanting to expound; 갖추어 말하면

For incalculable eons; 아승지겁으로도

without exhausting it; 다할 수 없고

Yet have the expressions and nuances

; 글과 뜻도

be each different; 제각기 같지 않나니

Do ~ therefore arouse this will

; 이를 위해 처음으로 발심하였네

enlightening beings; 보살이
