The tissue is disposable and does not need to be washed as well as a handkerchief or cloth napkin. Almost everyone is familiar with wet tissue. The product is made of cotton and is used to clean the face or other body parts. Wet tissue has replaced the handkerchief to wipe the sweat or clean your hands after eating. ○ The market continues to grow every year. According to Santi Yuliana, Product Manager of PT Multi Indocitra, the producer of pigeon wet tissue, wet tissue market in Indonesia reached Rp 500 billion. And every year, the industry market growth reached 10%. ○ This market is contributed by the huge population in Indonesia that reaches more than 237.6 million people, according to Indonesian Statistic Bureau in 2010. Every year during the period 2000 to 2010, the population increased 3.25 million. Indonesia's population growth rate in 2000~2010 is 1.49% per year. The Indonesian population structure based on age is: 0~14 years: 28.9%, 15~64 years: 68.0%, and 65 years to over: 3.1%. ○ Baby population aged 0~4 years old that reached in 2010 is more that 22 million babies. ○ Wet tissue market continues to rise in Indonesia due to healthy economic growth and this has led to the emergence of a huge middle class. Wet tissue continue to be considered as secondary products and therefore the category caters predominantly to Indonesia’s middle-income to high-income consumers, the vast majority of whom live in urban areas. ○ The higher numbers of Indonesians engaging in domestic travel is also expected to sustain higher demand for wet tissue during holiday seasons as wipes are extremely convenient as fresheners amidst the often oppressive heat of Indonesia’s tropical climate or for personal cleansing when toilets are not available. 2.
