1. Demand Trend

 ○ The demand trend of FRP pipes can be seen from the import trend. In the past five years, 2008 has the highest import level at 18.73 million USD in value and at 5.75 tons in weight. Importation then dropped in 2009 by an astonishing 43.88%. This drop was caused by the global crisis which also impacts economic activities in Indonesia. And then in 2010 imports rise back again by 32.28% and slowly drops back in 2011 and 2012 by low increments at 3.54% and 0.86% respectively. This might be due to the increasing capacity of local manufacturers to meet the domestic demand which in turn reduces the need to import.

 ○ Below is the list of top ten exporters of HS Code 391729 into Indonesia sorted by the biggest to the smallest exporter in 2012. The figures are shown in millions of US dollars. Singapore remains to be the biggest exporter for the period of 2011 to 2012 while the title of the largest exporter was China back in 2010.

2. Competition Trend

  ○ Indonesia already has many FRP manufacturers in the country. The companies that will be mentioned are some of the major players in FRP manufacturing. One of them is PT. GrahaAdhi Jaya Abadi. It is a FRP engineering and manufacturing company which started in 1990. Now it has become the biggest FRP manufacturer in the nation. The company uses advanced technology in providing total solution in basic designing, engineering, fabrication, erection & testing commissioning of FRP. This company also uses international standard for manufacturing and design referring to ASTM, BS 4994. ASME, API, JIS, and ANSI.
