[모닝동이]

1월의 마지막 주간입니다. 

지난 한 달동안 우리의 성적이 어떠했는지 한번 볼까요? 

임미영(1), 이정우(2), 정종희(0), 조국향(4), 곽명순(0), 도영화(2), 김인혜(1), 신진영(3), 이경환(2), 권재현(2), 오제화(2), 이지은(3)

역시 우리들의 EBS 조국향선생님 기대를 저버리지 않고 All 출석입니다. 반면에 "0" 인 분들도 몇 분 계시죠?

출석이 저조하신 분들은 2월달부터는 분발하시구요, 그럼 2월 첫 주 번역나갑니다~.

<피에쑤> 항상 금요일 오후이전에 번역원본이랑 새로운 번역숙제가 나가죠^^ 제가 원래 쫌 성질이 급해요. 미리미리들 하세요~~

경제 불황으로 인해, 저는 회사를 정리해야 했습니다. 이거 하나 가르쳐드릴게요. 진짜 친구가 누군지 알고 싶은 사람이 있다면, 자기 사업을 해보세요. 

 Because of economic recession. I can't help but to give up my business. I will give you a tips. If you want to know who would be your truly friend, start your own business.

Because of the downturn in the economy, I had to close my business. Let me tell you this -- if anyone wants to know who their real friends are, here's how: Own your own business

친구나 가족 그 어느 누구도 제 사업 실패를 안타까워해 주기는커녕, 언급하는 사람도 없었습니다. 모두 그 사실을 알고 있으면서요. 사람들이 이 사업과는 상관없는 제 남편에게는 유감이라고 하면서, 저에게는 아무도 이런 걸 말해주려고 하지 않더군요. 

 Far from feeling sorry for my failure of business , nobody mentions it  .  Everybody knew the fact, though. People say sorry to my husband who has nothing to do with this business, but nobody is trying to say this to me.

 Not one friend or family member has mentioned my business loss, much less offered condolences -- and they all know. People have told my husband, who was not part of the business, that they feel sorry for me,

모임에서 제 실패에 대한 얘기가 나오지 않고 있을 때면, 방 안에 커다란 코끼리가 한 마리 들어와있는데 모두 이에 대한 언급을 꺼려하고 있는 것 같은 느낌이 들어요.

 In the meeting when nobody mentions my failure, it seems like everyone is trying to avoid talking about the elephant which has appeared in the room.

but no one will say anything to me about it.  I feel like it's the elephant in the room at gatherings when no one mentions it.

조국향 

이런 일에 상처 받는 것이 잘못된 건가요? 이 문제를 어떻게 해야 할지 모르겠어요. 저는 모두들 무례하고 자기 일에만 몰두하고 있어서 좀 놀랐어요. 

Am I wrong to feel hurt by this? I don't know what to do about it. I'm amazed at everyone's rudeness and total self-absorption.

좋은 소식이 있을 때만 서로와 얘기하고, 상대방의 실패에 대해 동정을 표하기엔 너무 바쁜 그런 사회가 된 건가요? 

도영화 

주변사람들이 관심이 없어서 그 주제를 꺼내지 않는 건 아니에요. 그보다는 부적절한 말을 하게 될까 걱정돼서, 그리고 그것을 언급하는 게 마음을 상하게 할까 염려되기 때문일 가능성이 더 크죠. 

 I don`t think that people around us don`t come out that subject because they don`t care about this. They would rather worry about saying absurdly, and there might be a more possibility to hurt someone by mentioning that.

Their reluctance to bring the subject up is not because they don't care. It's more likely that they're afraid to say the wrong thing and are afraid they'll make you feel bad if they mention it.

김인혜

가족 중 누구에게 심각한 병이 생기거나 누가 세상을 떠났을 때 종종 이런 반응을 보이게 돼요. 친구들이나 친척들은 "어떤 일이 있었는지 들었는데 정말 안됐어"라고 말해 당사자에게 감정을 모두 쏟아내거나 말할 기분이 아니면 주제를 바꿀 기회를 주는 것으로 충분하다는 것을 깨닫지 못하는 거죠. 

신진영 

적절한 시기에 제게 고민을 보내줘서 다행이에요. 요즘처럼 기록적인 수치로 회사들이 파산하고 사람들이 해고당하고 있을 땐, 이들이 이미 느끼는 것보다 더 외로워지지 않게 해주는 것이 중요하거든요. 친구의 불행을 해결해줄 수는 없을지 몰라도, 관심 받고 있다는 걸 가르쳐주는 것만으로도 큰 도움이 됩니다. 

It is lucky to send me your worry appropriately. When company got bankrupt and people were laid off in record-breaking number, it is important to make them not feel lonely than they already felt. Even though we can't resolve friend's unhappiness, it could be more helpful to teach them they were concerned from others.

 I'm glad you wrote because your letter is timely. With businesses closing and people being laid off in record numbers, it is important that they not feel more isolated than they already do. You may not be able to solve an unlucky friend's problem, but knowing you care goes a long way.

저는 남편과 5년 전에 결혼했습니다. 저희는 가까운 친구들과 사랑하는 이들을 초대해 예쁘고 격식 없는 결혼식을 올렸어요.

권재현 

부끄럽지만 저는 대단한 귀차니스트라서 선물에 대한 감사 카드를 하나도 보내지 않았습니다. 저는 크면서 감사 카드는 적절한 때에 보내는 게 예의 바른 일이라고 배워서, 일정 시간이 지난 후에는 너무 난처해져서 보내지 못했습니다. 

오제화 

애비, 번번히 저는 그 죄책감에 시달립니다. 카드를 안 보냈다는 게 너무 미안해서, 젊은 커플들이 결혼을 할 때면 감사 카드를 제 시간에 보내지 않으면 후회할 것이라고 꼭 말해왔어요.

이지은

전 어떻게 해야 하죠? 예절에 대해 인생 교훈을 받은 셈 칠까요? 아니면 5년 늦었지만 죄송하다는 말과 함께 감사 카드를 보내야 할까요?

가끔은 사람들이 올바른 일을 하는 데 상담기고가의 '가벼운 동기부여'만으로 충분할 때가 있으니, 제가 말을 할게요. 당신에게 결혼 선물을 준 사람들은 당신으로부터 한마디도 듣지 못했다는 것을 아마 잊지 않았을 거예요. 그러니까, 어서 쓰기 시작하세요. 애초에 해야 했던 일을 하세요. 늦더라도 안 하는 것보단 낫죠.

오제화 : Abby I often feel that guilty. Because I was very sorry for not having sent a card, I've always told young couples that they would regret if they would not send a gratitude card in time.

Do I regard it is a lesson for manner? Otherwise, do I have to send the card writing I'm still sorry even though it past 5 years
