<p>President Joe Biden is signing into a  law  a measure that increases social security payment for current and former public employees.</p><p>The new law will effect nearly 3 million people such as teachers, firefighters and police officers.</p><p>The bill rescinds the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset.</p><p>They limit Social Secury benefits for people who get retirement payments from other sources incuding public retirement programs from a state or local government. </p><p>Advocates said that The Social Security Fairmess Act rights a decades-old disparity but it will put a strain on social trust funds, which face a looming insolvency crisis</p><p>Donna Warder Washington</p>
