S Jenny's birthday is coming up. Let's throw her a surprise party./ N Yeah, we couldn't celebrate last year because of the pandemic.
​S Make sure to keep her in the dark this time. You spilled the beans a few years ago./​N Yeah, I know. I blew it. That was totally my bad.
S The party will be at my house. I'll ask Jenny when she is available./ ​N Okay, then let me know what time.
​S Good. And I'm going to order a customized cake for her. Can you pick it up on the way that day?/ ​N Sure thing.
N I've invited some of Jenny's close friends.
​S Great. Is Clara coming? I need her help with decorations. She has pretty banners, balloons, and everything!
​N Yes. She said she is going to call you./ ​S Wonderful.
​N If you need any help setting up the party, I can give you some extra help.
R Hey, I heard you had a baby. Congrats. How are you doing?
​S I'm doing great, thanks. I'm staying at a postnatal care center now. It's for recovering after childbirth./ ​R Oh, that sounds interesting.
​S Yes, It's common to go there in Korea. They provide very good service./ R How's your baby? Is it she or he?
​S She. We've named her Minji. She is very healthy,/ ​R That's a pretty name. How much does she weigh?
​S She is 3 kilograms. She is so tiny and cute!/ ​R Did you guys wish for a son, by any chance?
​S No! Either a son or a daughter would've been fine with us.
 
A: So, we're visiting the Blue House this weekend, right?
B: Yup. We can drive there, right? I wonder how convenient the parking situation is.
A: There are a few public parking lots nearby, so that's an option. But I heard public transportation is convenient, too.
B: Oh, true. We could take the bus or subway.  It might be easier.
A: Should we make a reservation for the tour?/   B: Yes, we should, and ask if it includes kids, too.
A: Okay. By the way we should probably use public transportation to get there.
B: Good thinking. Driving and parking can be a hassle in the city.
A: We can take Bus 109 from Hyehwa-dong, and there's a subway station nearby, too.  I'll check the details online.
A: Have you made the reservation for our Blue House tour?/   B: Not yet, but I'll do it today.
A: Definitely, and we can also visit the National Museum near there after the tour.  It'll be a perfect way to complete the day.
B: Sure, let's make the most of our visit to the Blue House and other places in downtown Seoul.
​A: So, how did you like the tour of the Blue House?
B: Oh, I had a great time! I was so impressed by the beautiful gardens and traditional architecture.
A: Yeah, and I learned a lot about Korean history.
B: The presidential reception rooms were grand, weren't they? I felt like I was in a movie!
A: You know what struck me? The attention to detail in every room.  It felt like they preserved history perfectly.
A: You know, it reminds me of when I visited Mark Twain's house in the States./ B: Really? How was it?
A: Well, like the Blue House, it had a charming garden but with a Southern touch.
B: I saw a picture and it looked like the house was full of history. It must have felt like stepping back in time.
A: 그래, 이번 주말에 우리 청와대 가는 거 맞지?B: 그럼. 거기 운전해서 갈 수 있는 거지? 그곳 주차가 얼마나 편리할지 모르겠네.
A: 근처에 공영 주차장이 몇 군데 있으니까, 차를 가지고 가도 돼. 그런데 대중교통도 편리하다고 하더라고.
B: 아, 맞아. 버스나 지하철을 타고 갈 수도 있어. 그게 더 쉽겠다.//A: 그 투어 예약해야 될까?
B: 응, 그래야 돼. 그리고 아이들도 포함해야 하는지 물어봐.A: 알았어. 그런데 우리 거기 가는 데 대중교통을 이용해야 하지 않을까.
B: 좋은 생각이야. 운전하고 주차하는 게 도시에서는 아주 성가실 수 있거든.
A: 혜화동에서 109번 버스를 타도 되고, 근처에 지하철역도 있어.  자세한 건 온라인으로 알아볼게.
A: 우리 청와대 투어 가는 거 예약했어?B: 아니, 아직, 오늘 할 거야.
A: 그래야지, 그리고 투어하고 난 다음엔 그 근처에 있는 국립 박물관도 가 볼 수 있어. 그렇게 하면 아주 완벽하게 하루를 잘 마무리하는 게 될 거야.
B: 그래, 우리 청와대랑 서울 시내 다른 곳들을 가 보면서 최대한 즐겨 보자고.//A: 그래, 청와대 투어 어땠어?
B: 오, 정말 좋은 시간이었어! 아름아운 정원과 전통적인 건축물이 무척 인상 깊었어.
A: 그래, 그리고 난 한국 역사에 대해서도 많이 배웠어.
B: 대통령 연회장들 참 웅장하더라, 그렇지 않았니?  마치 내가 영화 속에 들어간 것 같았어.
A: 내가 가장 인상 깊었던 게 뭔지 알아? 모든 방에서 세세한 부분까지 신경 쓴거야. 역사를 완벽하게 보전한 것 같았어.
A: 있잖아, 그러고 보니까 내가 미국에서 마크 트웨인의 집을 갔던 게 생각난다.B: 정말? 어땠는데?
A: 청와대처럼 거기도 근사한 정원이 있었거든. 그런데 미국 남부의 특성이 가미되었지.
B: 나도 사진으로 본 적이 있는데, 그 집 전체가 역사적인 것으로 가득해 보였어. 마치 시간을 거슬러 간 듯한 느낌이었겠구나.

A: Are you excited about Ben's year-end party tonight? We should go together!
B: Oh, I don't know. I'm not feeling great. I think I might be coming down with something./A: Really? That's too bad.
B: I'm sorry! I'd rather stay home and rest than risk spreading anything./A: I understand. Your health comes first.
​A: Marie, you missed quite a night at Ben's party!/ B: Really? How was it?
A: It was packed! I saw everyone from work, and we played games and danced.
B: Sounds like a blast! I wish I could have been there./ A: I feel bad you couldn't join us. It wasn't the same without you.
​A: I just wanted to check in on you. How are you feeling?/B: Not great, to be honest, I think it might be from the party food.
A: Oh no!/  B: I've been feeling nauseous and running to the bathroom constantly. It's the worst!
A: That sounds terrible! Let me grab some medicine for you./ B: Thanks, Marie. I appreciate it. I just hope this passes soon!
​A: How many people are we thinking of inviting to the Christmas party?/ B: I was thinking around 20.
A: Twenty? That seems too many! What if it gets too chaotic?/ B: But we want it to feel festive!
A: I get that, but I'd prefer a smaller group - maybe 12 or 15?/ B: Come on, Jason! We can manage a little chaos.
​A: Let's make sure we don't leave anyone important off the list.
B: Of course! Did we add Jane? She'll be upset if she finds out she wasn't invited.
A: Exactly! And what about Tom? Should we invite him?B: Yeah, but we need to be careful about his ex-girlfriend being there.
A: Good point! We don't want any drama at our party.
A: 오늘 밤 벤이 여는 송년 파티, 신나겠지? 우리 같이 가야지!
B: 어, 글쎄. 내가 그다지 컨디션이 좋지 않아. 뭔가 병 기운이 느껴져./A: 정말? 그거 안됐구나.
B: 미안! 난 그냥 집에 있으면서 쉬는 게 뭐라도 병을 퍼뜨릴 위험을 감수하는 것보다는 나을 것 같아.A: 이해해. 네 건강이 우선이지.
A: 마리, 넌 못 왔지만 벤의 파티 정말 기가 막혔어!/ B: 정말? 어땠는데?
A: 사람들로 꽉 찼어! 회사 사람들도 다 봤고 같이 게임도 하고 춤도 췄지.
B: 신났겠네. 나도 갔으면 좋았을걸./ A: 네가 같이 못 가서 서운했어. 너 없으니까 영 좀 아니더라
A: 잘 지내나 보러 왔어. 좀 어때?/ B: 안 좋아, 솔직히 말하면, 파티 음식 때문인 것 같아.
A: 이런!/ B: 속이 메스껍고 계속 화장실을 가고 있어. 최악이야!
A: 어우, 너무 힘들겠다! 내가 가서 약을 좀 사다 줄게./ B: 고마워, 마리. 진짜로. 이게 빨리 지나갔으면 좋겠어.
A: 우리 크리스마스 파티에 몇 명이나 초대할 생각이야?/ B: 난 20명쯤 생각하고 있었는데.
A: 20명? 그건 너무 많은 것 같은데! 그러다 난장판이 되면 어떡해?/ B: 그래도 우린 축제 같은 분위기이길 바라는 거잖아.
A: 그건 이해하지만, 난 좀 더 적은 수의 사람이 좋아. 12명이나 15명 정도?B: 에이, 제이슨! 난장판 좀 벌어져도 우린 충분히 관리할 수 있어.
A: 중요한 사람을 명단에서 빠뜨리지 않도록 하자고.
B: 물론이지! 제인을 명단에 넣었나? 걔는 자기가 초대받지 않았다는 것을 알게 되면 엄청 화낼 거야.
A: 그렇지! 그리고 톰은 어떻게 하지? 그 친구 초대해야 하나?/B: 응, 하지만 걔 전 여친이 거기 올 것을 조심해야 돼.
A: 맞는 말이야! 괜히 우리 파티에서 드라마 같은 일이 벌어져선 안 되잖아!
