Hi friends~ ^^ the following is taken from space.com. If you love watching meteor shower like I do, look out the window tonight ^^
===========================================================
A minor meteor shower could provide worthwhile viewing for skywatchers in the predawn hours Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Orionid meteor shower can produce as much as one shooting star every 5 minutes for viewers with dark skies away from cities and suburbs.
"The meteors come from Halley's comet," says Bill Cooke, a member of the Space Environments Team at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center. "Every year in October Earth glides through a stream of dusty debris from the comet. The bits of comet dust, most no larger than grains of sand, disintegrate in the atmosphere and become shooting stars."
The comet is nowhere nearby right now, having retreated to the outer solar system. But its debris, left by many previous passes, continues to orbit the Sun on a path similar to that of the comet.
The Orionids emanate from the constellation Orion, hence the name. Their point of origin in the predawn will be high in the southern sky. But meteors could appear anywhere across the sky.
The best time to look is between 5 a.m. and dawn (korea time) Tuesday. Though lesser numbers of meteors will streak across the sky earlier.
Other than warm clothes, no special equipment is required for watching meteors. Telescopes and binoculars are of no use. Astronomers advise viewers to simply lay back on a blanket or lounge chair in a spot that offers a wide view of the sky. Look toward the south and overhead.
"It's not an intense shower," Cooke said, "but it is a pretty one."
Wednesday will provide another opportunity, also just before sunrise. But Tuesday is expected to be better.
While out, look for the crescent Moon and bright Jupiter, which will be near each other in the eastern sky on both mornings.
The Orionids could be viewed as a warm-up for the November Leonid meteor shower, which scientists expect to offer higher rates, perhaps a shooting star every minute or two.
