The Avatamsaka Sutra, The Ten Abodes (십주품 33-4)

[眞如華]

     33-4.

     發言和悅離麤獷      言必知時無所畏

     了達於義如法行      遠離愚迷心不動

     하는 말이 화평하여 거칠지 않고

     때에 맞게 말함으로 두려움 없으며

     이치를 알고 법도 있게 행을 닦아서

     우매함을 여의고 마음은 동하지 않게 하도다.

Speaking gently, with no roughness or harshness,

Always speaking appropriately to the situation, without fear,

Comprehending the meaning of the teaching and acting in accord,

Leaving ignorance and delusion behind, the mind unmoving;

Speaking gently; 하는 말이 화평하여

with no roughness or harshness

; 거칠지 않고

Always speaking; 말함으로

appropriately to the situation

; 때에 맞게

without fear; 두려움 없으며

Comprehending the meaning of the teaching

; 이치를 알고

and acting in accord; 법도 있게 행을 닦아서

Leaving ~ behind; 여의고

ignorance and delusion; 우매함을

the mind unmoving; 마음은 동하지 않게 하도다
