<2018.Jan.03 Talk about when you had trouble in snowy weather>

We get quite a bit of snow in the winter. Once, it was snowing heavily outside. The roads were very slippery. Cars were barely moving because of the heavy snowfall. I was stuck in some major traffic. It took me almost two hours to get to work. Normally, it would take half that time. A lot of my colleagues were late for work that day because of the snowy weather conditions. Plus, there was this other time when I was driving in the snow. It was very cold and the roads froze over. It was hard to drive because my car kept slipping. I didn’t get into an accident or anything, but it was very nerve-racking. Since then, I always leave my car at home when it looks like it’s going to snow.

• Heavily[해블리], slippery[슬리뻐리]

• Be stuck in major traffic : 극심한 교통체증에 갇혀버렸다. Major은 극심한 이라는 뜻을 쓰였음.

  Eg) I was stuck in major traffic.

• Get to work/ get to school : 출근하다/ 등교하다

• Drive in the snow : 눈 오는데 운전하다.

• Freeze over : 다 얼어붙다. Freeze-froze-frozen

• Nerve-racking : 긴장되는것.. 안절부절 못하게 하는 nerve : 신경, racking : 뒤흔들다, 고문하다, 괴롭히다.

*drive in the snow : 눈 오는데 운전하다.

It’s very dangerous to drive in the snow.

I do not like to drive in the snow.

*get quite a bit of snow 제법 눈이 많이 온다

We got quite a bit of snow last winter. (we라는 주어를 주로 씀)

*heavy snowfall 폭설

The heavy snowfall caused massive damage.

*Keep slipping : 자꾸 미끄러지다.

I keep slipping in these shoes.

She kept slipping because it was slippery.

*nerve-racking[뤠낑] 안절부절못하게 하는

It was a nerve-racking experience.

Rollercoaster rides are very nerve-racking.

-I’m not sure yet. It did snow a lot, right?

-Yes. I advise that you to take public transportation.

-Maybe I should do that.
