<p>In today’s text, the reaction of the people of Nazareth towards Jesus overlaps with the reaction seen later by the people of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is the city chosen by God. The people of Jerusalem are those who, by the grace of God, live in the city chosen by God, and there is the temple of God there.</p><p> </p><p>Yet the people of the temple reject the Jesus. He is seized, tortured, and killed there. In his hometown of Nazareth, the hometown people try to expel and kill him, and the people of God's city, instead of serving the Son of God, kill the Son of God. This is the sin of Nazareth, the sin of Jerusalem.
