[틈틈이 영어공부] I’m all for it

- 영한 : 전적으로 찬성하다, 완벽히 찬성하다, ~을 굳게 믿다.

- 영한 : To support or be in favor of a person, group, or effort.

- 활용 : all for something / all for doing something

- "찬성"하다의 동일한 의미/문구 :

I agree with you / I agree to your opinion / I completely agree to your proposal. / I'm all for your proposal / I fully approve

- 반대 할 때 쓰는 문구 : be against ~(something, doing~) / I object to~

- 예문 : 

찬성하시는 걸로 받아드려도 될까요 ? 
Could I take that as a yes ?

I’m all for people having fun. 
나는 사람들이 즐겨야 한다는 데 전적으로 찬성한다.

Lee and Harry are talking about their son Ron.

Lee: Next year is Ron's senior year.
리: 론이 내년에 고등학교 3학년이야.

Harry: I know; his last year of high school. Time flies.
해리: 알아. 고등학교 마지막 학년이라는 거. 시간 정말 빨리 간다.

Lee: He told me he wants to get a job this summer.
리: 이번 여름에 일을 하고 싶다던데.

Harry: Really? That's news to me.
해리: 정말? 난 아무 얘기 못들었어.

Lee: His senior year is expensive and he wants to pay for it himself.
리: 3학년이 되면 돈이 많이 드니까 직접 벌어서 내고 싶대.

Harry: Well, I'm all for it. He's showing responsibility.
해리: 그렇다면 난 무조건 찬성이지. 책임감이 있는 거잖아.

Lee: Our baby will soon be leaving the nest.
리: 우리 애기가 곧 집을 떠나겠네.

Harry: He's not a baby anymore.
해리: 이젠 애기가 아니야.

Lee: He'll always be my baby.
리: 나한테는 언제나 애기야.

Harry: Well, I'm glad this baby is getting a job.
해리: 어쨌든 애기가 일을 한다니 흐뭇하네.


[기억할만한 표현]
▶ time flies: 시간이 쏜살 같이 흐르다.
“Time flies when you’re having fun.” (재미있으면 시간이 금방 가.)

▶ That’s news to me: 금시초문인데. 처음 듣는 얘기야.
Jim: “John is getting married.” (존이 결혼해.)
Roger: “That’s news to me. Nobody told me.” (난 처음 들어. 아무도 얘기를 안 해주던데.)

▶ leave the nest: 부모 품을 떠나다.
“My wife cried when our daughter left the nest to go to college.” 
(우리 딸이 대학에 가느라 집을 떠나니까 아내가 울었어.)
