Summary: Regarding improvements to Guardian Tales player communication and feedback collection, we aim to increase player engagement, enhance the game's reputation, and address potential issues by adjusting the content and frequency of developer communications.
Dear Director Luo and the development team:
Hello!
I'm Luo Yu, a loyal Guardian Tales player. I've always closely followed the game's development and am deeply grateful for your dedication.
I understand your desire to gain players' understanding and empathy by providing updates on development progress. However, being in a high position and the center of attention inevitably makes you a target for negative feedback from some players. Both the Korean and Chinese communities are not receptive.
So far, the game has performed well in many areas, including the competitive nature of the Deathmatch mode, the revenue model (I'm not sure about the buff monthly pass, as it's difficult to find information on the Korean server store, but players have a relatively good reputation for its value for money), the generally balanced character strengths, the fun of cooperative expeditions, the creative workshop with players sharing revenue (of course, the company takes the lion's share, and player-created works sold during the event with high votes count towards the prize pool, which is a good incentive), 33-vs-33 battles, and casual social interaction (according to the recruitment announcement, there will be future player home visits and resource exchanges, which hopefully will move away from a purely intensive development-based revenue model, and I'm very excited).
However, I believe that while writing letters to communicate with players is well-intentioned, what players really need is more direct communication, such as through live streaming, which allows for real-time interaction. Constantly writing letters to yourself might be seen by players as avoiding the social atmosphere of being abused (although no one likes being abused for no reason).
Some adjustments could also be made in terms of letter communication. Reduce the frequency of writing letters about new content with each update, from once every two weeks to once a month or once a month and a half. During this time, include sections to solicit player feedback, such as:
- Performance data and player experience for the four modes: 4v4, 3v3, Master, and Deathmatch;
- Experience with cooperative mode: Is it boring or lacking in challenge? What is the level of daily player engagement?
- Guild War data and player feedback;
- Newcomers' experience with the difficulty of the initial main story levels, and whether the difficulty of the later worlds matches the character's blossoming (currently, leveling up the Knight is manageable, and the health loss is acceptable, but the blossoming Knight seems somewhat useless);
- Experience with the ladder and Thetis gameplay;
- Whether the talent tree needs optimization;
- What new content players would like to see added to the Guild GVG.
...
By collecting the results of player discussions and analyzing them, developers will not only increase player engagement but also help improve the game and enhance its reputation.
Thank you again for your hard work, and we look forward to seeing the game continue to improve!
Best regards!
Luo Yu
