[틈틈이 영어공부] I should sort mine out.

- 영한 : ~을 정리/분류/구하다, 처리하다

- 영영 : arrange things systematically in groups or according to type. / resolve a problem or difficulty.

- 명사형 : soot-out 정리

- 유사 : sort somebody out (문제를 일으키는)~를 해결/처리하다.

- 예문 : 

Let’s try to sort out the mess. 
엉망이 된 상황을 정리를 해 보도록 하자.

The police were called to sort out a domestic. 
집안싸움을 해결하기 위해 경찰이 불려 왔다.

Meredith: I’ve been reading an article about personal finances. It made me realize that I should sort mine out.
메리디스: 최근에 개인 재정에 관한 기사를 읽었더니 나도 재정 문제를 정리 해야겠다는 생각이 들었어.

Tom: What’s the problem with your finances?
톰: 너 재정적으로 무슨 문제가 있어?

Meredith: They are a terrible mess right now.
메리디스: 지금 엉망진창이지.

Tom: I was in the same boat a couple of years ago.
톰: 2년 전엔 나도 마찬가지였어.

Meredith: What did you do about it?
메리디스: 어떻게 처리했는데?

Tom: I got a professional financial advisor to help me put them in order.
톰: 재정 전문가에게 의뢰해서 정리했어.

Meredith: How did you find him? Did he do a good job?
메리디스: 그 사람은 어떻게 찾았어? 일은 잘 해?

Tom: It’s a lady actually. My brother uses her and he introduced me to her.
탐: 사실은 여자야. 형이 쓰던 사람인데 나한테 소개시켜 줬어.

Meredith: Is she any good and can you trust her?
메리디스: 그 여자 괜찮아? 믿을 만해?

Tom: She is very good and she’s as honest as the day is long. I recommend her.
톰: 아주 좋아. 그리고 굉장히 정직해. 추천할 만한 사람이야.


[기억할만한 표현]
▶ (one) is in the same boat: 같은 처지에 있다.
“During The Depression everyone was in the same boat.” 
(대공황 때는 모두 처지가 같았어요.)

▶ put (something) in order: (무엇을) 정리하다.
“After you put your ideas in order we can decide what to do with them.” 
(네 생각을 잘 정리한 다음에 어떻게 할 것인지 결정하자.)

▶ (one) is as honest as the day is long: (누가) 아주 정직하다.
“I thought Sam was honest as the day was long but now I’m not sure.” 
(샘은 아주 정직한 사람이라고 생각했는데 이젠 자신이 없어.)
