Two friends are having coffee.

Wendy: Why did you leave The Big Rabbit? It was the best rock band in town.
웬디: 왜 '빅 래빗' 밴드를 나왔어? 여기선 최고의 록 밴드였잖아.

Don: Well my business has been getting more demanding and I was finding it difficult to spare the time.
단: 글쎄 개인 사업을 하다 보니 자꾸 할 일이 늘어나서 시간 내기가 어려웠어.

Wendy: Was that the only reason?
웬디: 그게 이유의 전부야?

Don: No not really. I was getting fed up with Robert you know the lead singer? In fact we all were.
단: 아니 그건 아니고. 로버트라고 알지 리드 싱어. 질리더라고. 사실은 다른 단원들도 다 질려했어.

Wendy: What was the trouble?
웬디: 문제가 뭔데?

Don: Among other things he thought he was the most important person in the band.
단: 다른 것보다 자신이 밴드에서 제일 중요한 사람이라고 생각하는 거야.

Wendy: It's too bad when one person can ruin a whole band.
웬디: 한 사람이 밴드 전체를 망치다니 너무 안됐다.

Don: But we had a few good years.
단: 그래도 몇 년 동안은 좋았어.

Wendy: Don’t you miss being in a band?
웬디: 밴드 시절이 그립지 않아?

Don: Sometimes but my computer business has really taken off.
단: 가끔. 그런데 지금 하는 컴퓨터 비즈니스가 정말 잘 돼.


[기억할만한 표현]
▶ spare the time: 시간 여유가 있다.
“Can you spare the time to help me today?” 
(오늘 날 도와줄 시간 여유 있어?)

▶ fed up with (someone or something): 물리다. 질리다.
“I‘m fed up with my golf game sometimes.” 
(골프 게임이 물릴 때도 있어.)
