다시방은 닷슈반(ダッシュばん)에서 온 단어로 두 가지의 의미를 가지고 있는데, 하나는 글러브 컴파트먼트(Glove compartment) 즉 글러브 박스(Glove box)이고, 다른 하나는 대시보드(dashbord)를 의미한다

A glove compartment or glove box is a compartment built into the dashboard of an automobile, located over the front-seat passenger's footwell, and often used for miscellaneous storage.


The name derives from the original purpose of the compartment, to store driving gloves.
