  wakeful adj. (44) <사람이> 잠이 오지 않는, 자지 않고 있는(sleepless)

"Toxins" translates asava, which is sometimes rendered into English as "effluents", "intoxicants",

or "cankers". It seems that the word originally meant both the intoxicating juice of a plant and

the discharge from a sore. In the psychological meaning used in Buddhist texts, it usually

refers to the craving for sensuality, becoming or existence, views, and ignorance. "Having

destroyed the asavas" is the most common description of an arahant, a fully liberated person.
