- 영한 : (책임·임무를) 회피하다, (약속한 일을) 안 하다, ~에서 떠나다/나가다.
- 영영 : to avoid doing (something), to stop being in or involved in (something)
- 예문 :
We promised we’d go, we can’t get out of it now.
우리는 간다고 약속을 했다. 이제 와서 그것을 회피할 수는 없다.
I wish I could get out of going to that meeting.
난 그 모임에 안 갈 수 있으면 좋겠다.

다이앤: 우린 영화 일찍 볼 거야. 8시에서 8시 반이면 끝나.
Vince: Do you want to hook up with me at the club?
빈스: 그럼 클럽에서 만날까?
Diane: Great. I'll bring my roommate. See you Saturday night.
다이앤: 좋아. 룸메이트도 데려갈게. 토요일 밤에 봐.
[기억할만한 표현]
▶ hang out: 놀다. 시간을 보내다.
“They’ve been hanging out at the beach all day.”
(그들은 하루 종일 바닷가에서 놀았어.)
▶ check out (something): 확인하다.
“I checked out that golf course but it’s too expensive.”
(골프장을 확인했는데 너무 비싸.)
▶ hook up with (someone): (누구를) 만나다. 어울리다.
“He hooked up with his friends and went to a baseball game.”
(그 사람은 친구들과 어울려서 야구장에 갔어.)
