"Maintenance and Management of the Body Machine: The Flow of Energy and Love Linked by Everyday Awareness with Normal Mind and Even Breathing; Mindfulness in Oneness"
■ The experiences of one's life lived so far reflect the current level and quality of one's life.
This encompasses everything material, mental, and physical.
Human beings, perhaps unknowingly, at some point, come to understand through poignant experiences the clear and, at times, despairing truth that their body is equipped with limited energy and finite time. It's when they grasp this truth and gain insight that they truly awaken.
That's what it means to be human.
In essence, it's about striving to live as human as possible with the time left and limited energy, and it's about a change in mindset.
■ Living a truly human life means moving away from the pursuit of wealth, power, and honor.
Here's a simpler way to explain it:
1. Instead of putting oneself first, one makes an effort to communicate through an understanding of the world around them.
2. Understanding what love is, that is, acts of helping and giving, or a genuine sense of gratitude, naturally emanate.
3. Unlike before, truth is infused into words, actions, and thoughts, and one's mind and body become one.
4. With energy (love or wisdom) flowing through the body, the mind becomes clearer, the body lighter,
discernment sharper, and there's less clutter in reasoning compared to the past.
5. One lives in the moment, becomes clearer about what can be left undone and what's unnecessary, and gains confidence. They don't get caught up in frivolous and futile matters; instead, they become more deliberate in their own lives.
6. There's a tendency to focus on things that only soothe the mind and body in one's bucket list. Occasionally, one may still chase after achievements for the sake of pride and honor in the latter half of life. However, rather than being entangled in such pursuits, they become very practical and down-to-earth, frequently reflecting on themselves in the moment.
7. Despite seeming busy, health and happiness follow, with moments of ease and abundance coming naturally. It's not about acquiring these things by seeking them out; it's about living life in accordance with the essence of human life by the principle of nature, where everything falls into place. Therefore, one must prepare for everything in the world in advance, strive to do their best in each moment, and it ultimately depends on their mindset.
■ The result of every moment heart's desire and act reflects the current level and quality.
Regardless of time and place, countless pioneers throughout human history have been telling the same story.
The only difference lies in the way it's expressed.
The same story is about narrating the essence of human life.
It's neither profound nor mystical; it's simple and clear.
For example, following what is good rather than what is bad, choosing love over hatred, jealousy, or resentment, and maintaining harmony and balance in the presence of opposites like good and evil. These are things everyone knows, learned since kindergarten. These are the basics and the entirety of human life.
Each person brings the results of their heart's desires (마음씀씀이) through their actions, and it directly affects their health and happiness.
Therefore, by confronting and learning from countless trials and errors, difficult or challenging situations, and conditions, one gradually develops and matures as a human being.
Under the grand proposition of gaining enlightenment, standing confidently with a straight back, turning away from the world, breathing all day as we have done since birth.
And also spending the whole day praying and bowing one's knees to gain what they desire—all of these practices lead to nothing. It's a blessing not to be in pain and to maintain good health.
If one wants to stay healthy and avoid pain, they must exercise diligently, rest well, and eat well.
If they want to pass an exam, they must study well.
If they want to earn money, they must use their intelligence effectively.
Life itself must be filled with wisdom,
and one must reconsider why love is important.
That's the reality of human life.
■ The more one prepares and works in advance, the less difficult and painful it becomes.
Some say that you only truly understand the truths of the world after you die. However, for tasks that are futile, unnecessary, frivolous, or meaningless, you can quickly realize this with a moment's reflection.
As time passes and age sets in, you gain a clearer perspective on what needs to be done and what doesn't. Alternatively, as your body machine fails to keep up with your mental desires, if you try to force it to conform to your preconceived notions, everything becomes more difficult and painful. In other words, your body machine will break down sooner, and that's how it goes until the end.
■ There is only one human mind.
Humans are designed to exist within relationships, and those relationships can make one's life better or worse. To improve them, one must study until they die. That's the essence of human life and the path of practice.
Without oneself, such relationships wouldn't exist. Therefore, everything depends on one's presence.
The responsibility for all situations falls back to oneself, and this is how problems can be resolved.
Hence, attributing everything to oneself is essential. Otherwise, if things are tangled or painful, they can get even more complicated, and healing might take longer. The more you resist, the more tangled your mind becomes.
In the end, because there's only one human mind, you must learn to handle it yourself. If there were two or three, it would be okay if one went astray. That's why studying human life involves constantly improving it through the experience of good and bad, moment by moment, thought by thought, word by word, and action by action.
The crucial fact is that preparation and effort are required in advance.
■ The human body is a biological organism that responds to stimuli.
In reality, one could consider themselves as a collection of over 60 trillion cells, collectively agreeing to be called "me." Each cell is occupied with its own tasks. Perhaps humans briefly exist within the illusion of individuality before being erased as a single stroke in the overall picture.
Nevertheless, even in the 21st century, we still commonly observe people around us who continue to cling to things that are unnecessary, whether it be a waste of time, energy, or money, despite the fact that these practices have been deeply ingrained in our daily lives for centuries, often tied to religious, superstitious, or faith-based beliefs.
■ In managing the human body, two important factors are Normal Mind (평상심)and Even Breathing (고른 호흡).
These factors also depend on one's mindset.
In the end, Normal Mind can be expressed as Even Mind.
Even Mind guides Even Breathing,
and Even Breathing helps maintain Even Mind (Normal Mind).
Therefore, these two factors are the fundamentals and necessities for managing the human body machine in life.
If we delve deeper into the meaning of Normal Mind, it's evident that humans can not sustain it continuously. This is because they are not built that way.
Without acknowledging this fundamental truth, one may become trapped in illusions under the pretext of practice, making it difficult to live a truly human life alongside the world.
The human mind constantly operates by colliding good and bad, combining and conflicting, and this is due to the nature of the human body machine.
