(백) 성 도미니코 사제 기념일

도미니코 성인은 1170년 스페인 북부지방의 한 귀족 가문에서 태어났다. 

어려서부터 성덕을 쌓는 데 몰두하였으며 사제가 되어 하느님 말씀에 대한 열정적인 설교로

사람들을 회개의 길로 이끌었다. 

1206년 설교와 종교교육을 주로 담당하는 도미니코 수도회를 세우고 청빈한 삶과 설교로

복음의 진리에 대한 철저한 탐구를 강조하였다.

1221년에 선종, 1234년 그레고리오9세 교황이 시성하였다.

제1독서  민수기 12:1-13
[1] 모세가 에티오피아 여자를 아내로 맞아들였는데, 미르얌과 아론은 모세가 아내로 맞아들인 그 에티오피아 여자

때문에 모세를 비방하였다. 

While they were in Hazeroth, Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses on the pretext of the marriage he had contracted with a Cushite woman.

      Maria e Aronne parlarono contro Mosè a causa della donna etiope che aveva sposata; infatti aveva sposato una

      Etiope.

   Parce que Moïse avait épousé une femme éthiopienne, sa sœur Miryam et son frère Aaron se mirent à le critiquer.
Locutaque est Maria et Aaron contra Moysen propter uxorem eius Aethiopissam

[2] 그들은 이렇게 말하였다. “주님께서 모세를 통해서만 말씀하셨느냐? 우리를 통해서도 말씀하시지 않았느냐?”

주님께서 이 말을 들으셨다. 

They complained, "Is it through Moses alone that the LORD speaks? Does he not speak through us also?" And the LORD heard this.

        Dissero: "Il Signore ha forse parlato soltanto per mezzo di Mosè? Non ha parlato anche per mezzo nostro?". Il

        Signore udì.

   Ils disaient : « Le Seigneur parle-t-il uniquement par Moïse ? Ne parle-t-il pas aussi par nous ? » Le Seigneur entendit.
et dixerunt: “ Num per solum Moysen locutus est Dominus? Nonne et per nos similiter est locutus? ”. Quod cum audisset Dominus

[3] 그런데 모세라는 사람은 매우 겸손하였다. 땅 위에 사는 어떤 사람보다도 겸손하였다. 

Now, Moses himself was by far the meekest man on the face of the earth.

      Ora Mosè era molto più mansueto di ogni uomo che è sulla terra.

   – Or, Moïse était très humble, l’homme le plus humble que la terre ait porté.
erat enim Moyses vir humillimus super omnes homines, qui morabantur in terra ­

[4] 주님께서 갑자기 모세와 아론과 미르얌에게 말씀하셨다. “너희 셋은 만남의 천막으로 나오너라.” 그들 셋이 나오자, 

So at once the LORD said to Moses and Aaron and Miriam, "Come out, you three, to the meeting tent." And the three of them went.

        Il Signore disse subito a Mosè, ad Aronne e a Maria: "Uscite tutti e tre e andate alla tenda del convegno". Uscirono

        tutti e tre.

    Soudain, le Seigneur dit à Moïse, à Aaron et à Miryam : « Sortez tous les trois pour aller à la tente de la Rencontre. »

    Ils sortirent tous les trois.
statim locutus est ad eum et ad Aaron et Mariam: “ Egredimini vos tantum tres ad tabernaculum conventus ”. Cumque fuissent egressi,

[5] 주님께서 구름 기둥 속에 내려오시어 천막 어귀에 서시고, 아론과 미르얌을 부르셨다. 그 둘이 나와 서자 

Then the LORD came down in the column of cloud, and standing at the entrance of the tent, called Aaron and Miriam. When both came forward,

        Il Signore allora scese in una colonna di nube, si fermò all'ingresso della tenda e chiamò Aronne e Maria. I due si

        fecero avanti.

    Le Seigneur descendit dans la colonne de nuée et s’arrêta à l’entrée de la Tente. Il appela Aaron et Miryam ; tous deux

    s’avancèrent, et il leur dit :
descendit Dominus in columna nubis et stetit in introitu tabernaculi vocans Aaron et Mariam. Qui cum issent,

[6] 말씀하셨다. “너희는 내 말을 들어라. 너희 가운데에 예언자가 있으면 나 주님이 환시 속에서 나 자신을 그에게 알리고

꿈속에서 그에게 말할 것이다.

he said, "Now listen to the words of the LORD: Should there be a prophet among you, in visions will I reveal myself to him, in dreams will I speak to him;

        Il Signore disse:
        "Ascoltate le mie parole! 
        Se ci sarà un vostro profeta, io, il Signore,
        in visione a lui mi rivelerò,
        in sogno parlerò con lui.

   « Écoutez bien mes paroles : Quand il y a parmi vous un prophète du Seigneur, je me fais connaître à lui dans une     

   vision, je lui parle dans un songe.
dixit ad eos:
“ Audite sermones meos!
Si quis fuerit inter vos propheta Domini,
in visione apparebo ei
vel per somnium loquar ad illum.

[7] 나의 종 모세는 다르다. 그는 나의 온 집안을 충실히 맡고 있는 사람이다. 

Not so with my servant Moses! Throughout my house he bears my trust:

        Non così per il mio servo Mosè:
        egli è l'uomo di fiducia in tutta la mia casa.

    Il n’en est pas ainsi pour mon serviteur Moïse, lui qui, dans toute ma maison, est digne de confiance :
At non talis servus meus Moyses,
qui in omni domo mea fidelissimus est!

[8] 나는 입과 입을 마주하여 그와 말하고 환시나 수수께끼로 말하지 않는다. 그는 주님의 모습까지 볼 수 있다. 그런데

너희는 어찌하여 두려움도 없이 나의 종 모세를 비방하느냐?” 

face to face I speak to him, plainly and not in riddles. The presence of the LORD he beholds. Why, then, did you not fear to speak against my servant Moses?"

        Bocca a bocca parlo con lui,
        in visione e non con enigmi
        ed egli guarda l'immagine del Signore.
        Perchè non avete temuto
        di parlare contro il mio servo Mosè?".

    c’est de vive voix que je lui parle, dans une vision claire et non pas en énigmes ; ce qu’il regarde, c’est la forme même

    du Seigneur. Pourquoi avez-vous osé critiquer mon serviteur Moïse ? »
Ore enim ad os loquor ei,
et palam et non per aenigmata et figuras
Dominum videt!
Quare ergo non timuistis detrahere
servo meo Moysi? ”.

[9] 주님께서는 그들에게 진노하시며 떠나가셨다.

So angry was the LORD against them that when he departed,

      L'ira del Signore si accese contro di loro ed Egli se ne andò;

   La colère du Seigneur s’enflamma contre eux, puis il s’en alla.
Iratusque contra eos abiit,

[10] 구름이 천막 위에서 물러가자, 미르얌이 악성 피부병에 걸려 눈처럼 하얗게 되어 있는 것이 아닌가? 아론이 몸을

돌려 미르얌을 보자, 과연 그 여자는 악성 피부병에 걸려 있었다. 

and the cloud withdrew from the tent, there was Miriam, a snow-white leper! When Aaron turned and saw her a leper,

          la nuvola si ritirò di sopra alla tenda ed ecco Maria era lebbrosa, bianca come neve; Aronne guardò Maria ed ecco

          era lebbrosa.

     La nuée s’éloigna de la tente, et voici : Miryam était couverte d’une lèpre blanche comme de la neige. Aaron se tourna

     vers elle, et voici qu’elle était lépreuse.
nubes quoque recessit, quae erat super tabernaculum; et ecce Maria apparuit candens lepra quasi nix.
Cumque respexisset eam Aaron et vidisset perfusam lepra,

[11] 아론이 모세에게 말하였다. “아, 나의 주인님, 우리가 어리석게 행동하여 저지른 죄의 값을 우리에게 지우지 마십시오. 

"Ah, my lord!" he said to Moses, "please do not charge us with the sin that we have foolishly committed!

        Aronne disse a Mosè: "Signor mio, non addossarci la pena del peccato che abbiamo stoltamente commesso,

    Il dit alors à Moïse : « Je t’en supplie, mon seigneur, ne fais pas retomber sur nous ce péché que nous avons eu la folie

    de commettre.
ait ad Moysen: “ Obsecro, domine mi, ne imponas nobis hoc peccatum, quod stulte commisimus,

[12] 미르얌을, 살이 반은 뭉그러진 채 모태에서 죽어 나온 아이처럼 저렇게 놓아두지 말아 주십시오.”

Let her not thus be like the stillborn babe that comes forth from its mother's womb with its flesh half consumed."

        essa non sia come il bambino nato morto, la cui carne è già mezzo consumata quando esce dal seno della madre".

    Que Miryam ne soit pas comme l’enfant mort-né dont la chair est à demi rongée lorsqu’il sort du sein de sa mère ! »
ne fiat haec quasi mortua et ut abortivum, quod proicitur de vulva matris suae; ecce iam medium carnis eius devoratum est a lepra ”.

[13] 그러자 모세가 주님께 “하느님, 제발 미르얌을 고쳐 주십시오.” 하고 부르짖었다. 

Then Moses cried to the LORD, "Please, not this! Pray, heal her!"

        Mosè gridò al Signore: "Guariscila, Dio!".

    Moïse cria vers le Seigneur : « Dieu, je t’en prie, guéris-la ! »
Clamavitque Moyses ad Dominum dicens: “ Deus, obsecro, sana eam! ”.

복음  마태오 14:22-36

[22] 예수님께서는 곧 제자들을 재촉하시어 배를 타고 건너편으로 먼저 가게 하시고, 그동안에 당신께서는

군중을 돌려보내셨다.

Then he made the disciples get into the boat and precede him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.

          Subito dopo ordinò ai discepoli di salire sulla barca e di precederlo sull'altra sponda, mentre egli

          avrebbe congedato la folla. 

     Aussitôt Jésus obligea les disciples à monter dans la barque et à le précéder sur l’autre rive, pendant qu’il 

     renverrait les foules.
Et statim iussit discipulos ascendere in naviculam et praecedere eum trans fretum, donec dimitteret turbas.

[23] 군중을 돌려보내신 뒤, 예수님께서는 따로 기도하시려고 산에 오르셨다. 그리고 저녁때가 되었는데도 혼자

거기에 계셨다.

After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. When it was evening he was there alone.

        Congedata la folla, salì sul monte, solo, a pregare. Venuta la sera, egli se ne stava ancora solo

        lassù. 

    Quand il les eut renvoyées, il gravit la montagne, à l’écart, pour prier. Le soir venu, il était là, seul.
Et dimissis turbis, ascendit in montem solus orare. Vespere autem facto, solus erat ibi.

[24] 배는 이미 뭍에서 여러 스타디온 떨어져 있었는데, 마침 맞바람이 불어 파도에 시달리고 있었다.

Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore, was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.

        La barca intanto distava già qualche miglio da terra ed era agitata dalle onde, a causa del vento

        contrario. 

    La barque était déjà à une bonne distance de la terre, elle était battue par les vagues, car le vent était contraire.
Navicula autem iam multis stadiis a terra distabat, fluctibus iactata; erat enim contrarius ventus.

[25] 예수님께서는 새벽에 호수 위를 걸으시어 그들 쪽으로 가셨다. 

During the fourth watch of the night, he came toward them, walking on the sea.

        Verso la fine della notte egli venne verso di loro camminando sul mare. 

    Vers la fin de la nuit, Jésus vint vers eux en marchant sur la mer.
Quarta autem vigilia noctis venit ad eos ambulans supra mare.

[26] 제자들은 예수님께서 호수 위를 걸으시는 것을 보고 겁에 질려 “유령이다!” 하며 두려워 소리를 질러 댔다. 

When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified. "It is a ghost," they said, and they cried out in fear.

        I discepoli, a vederlo camminare sul mare, furono turbati e dissero: "È un fantasma" e si misero a

        gridare dalla paura. 

    En le voyant marcher sur la mer, les disciples furent bouleversés. Ils dirent : « C’est un fantôme. » Pris de peur, ils se

    mirent à crier.
Discipuli autem, videntes eum supra mare ambulantem, turbati sunt dicentes: “ Phantasma est ”, et prae timore clamaverunt.

[27] 예수님께서는 곧 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “용기를 내어라. 나다. 두려워하지 마라.” 

At once (Jesus) spoke to them, "Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid."

        Ma subito Gesù parlò loro: "Coraggio, sono io, non abbiate paura". 

    Mais aussitôt Jésus leur parla : « Confiance ! c’est moi ; n’ayez plus peur ! »
Statimque Iesus locutus est eis dicens: “ Habete fiduciam, ego sum; nolite timere! ”.

[28] 그러자 베드로가 말하였다. “주님, 주님이시거든 저더러 물 위를 걸어오라고 명령하십시오.” 

Peter said to him in reply, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water."

        Pietro gli disse: "Signore, se sei tu, comanda che io venga da te sulle acque". 

     Pierre prit alors la parole : « Seigneur, si c’est bien toi, ordonne-moi de venir vers toi sur les eaux. »
Respondens autem ei Petrus dixit: “ Domine, si tu es, iube me venire ad te super aquas ”.

[29] 예수님께서 “오너라.” 하시자, 베드로가 배에서 내려 물 위를 걸어 예수님께 갔다.

He said, "Come." Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.

          Ed egli disse: "Vieni!". Pietro, scendendo dalla barca, si mise a camminare sulle acque e andò verso

          Gesù.

     Jésus lui dit : « Viens ! » Pierre descendit de la barque et marcha sur les eaux pour aller vers Jésus.

 At ipse ait: “ Veni! ”. Et descendens Petrus de navicula ambulavit super aquas et venit ad Iesum.

[30] 그러나 거센 바람을 보고서는 그만 두려워졌다. 그래서 물에 빠져 들기 시작하자, "주님, 저를 구해

주십시오." 하고 소리를 질렀다.

But when he saw how (strong) the wind was he became frightened; and, beginning to sink, he cried out, "Lord, save me!"

        Ma per la violenza del vento, s'impaurì e, cominciando ad affondare, gridò: "Signore, salvami!". 

    Mais, voyant la force du vent, il eut peur et, comme il commençait à enfoncer, il cria : « Seigneur, sauve-moi ! »
Videns vero ventum validum timuit et, cum coepisset mergi, clamavit dicens: “ Domine, salvum me fac! ”.

[31] 예수님께서 곧 손을 내밀어 그를 붙잡으시고, “이 믿음이 약한 자야, 왜 의심하였느냐?” 하고 말씀하셨다. 

Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

        E subito Gesù stese la mano, lo afferrò e gli disse: "Uomo di poca fede, perché hai dubitato?". 

    Aussitôt, Jésus étendit la main, le saisit et lui dit : « Homme de peu de foi, pourquoi as-tu douté ? »
Continuo autem Iesus extendens manum apprehendit eum et ait illi: “ Modicae fidei, quare dubitasti? ”.

[32] 그러고 나서 그들이 배에 오르자 바람이 그쳤다. 

After they got into the boat, the wind died down.

        Appena saliti sulla barca, il vento cessò. 

     Et quand ils furent montés dans la barque, le vent tomba.
Et cum ascendissent in naviculam, cessavit ventus.

[33] 그러자 배 안에 있던 사람들이 그분께 엎드려 절하며, “스승님은 참으로 하느님의 아드님이십니다.” 하고

말하였다.

Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying, "Truly, you are the Son of God."

        Quelli che erano sulla barca gli si prostrarono davanti, esclamando: "Tu sei veramente il Figlio di

        Dio!". 

    Alors ceux qui étaient dans la barque se prosternèrent devant lui, et ils lui dirent : « Vraiment, tu es le Fils de

    Dieu ! »

Qui autem in navicula erant, adoraverunt eum dicentes: “ Vere Filius Dei es! ”.

[34] 그들은 호수를 건너 겐네사렛 땅에 이르렀다. 

After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.

        Compiuta la traversata, approdarono a Genèsaret. 

     Après la traversée, ils abordèrent à Génésareth.
Et cum trans fretassent, venerunt in terram Gennesaret.

[35] 그러자 그곳 사람들이 그분을 알아보고 그 주변 모든 지방으로 사람들을 보내어, 병든 이들을 모두 그분께

데려왔다. 

When the men of that place recognized him, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought to him all those who were sick

          E la gente del luogo, riconosciuto Gesù, diffuse la notizia in tutta la regione; gli portarono tutti i

          malati, 

     Les gens de cet endroit reconnurent Jésus ; ils firent avertir toute la région, et on lui amena tous les malades.
Et cum cognovissent eum viri loci illius, miserunt in universam regionem illam et obtulerunt ei omnes male habentes,

[36] 그리고 그 옷자락 술에 그들이 손이라도 대게 해 주십사고 청하였다. 과연 그것에 손을 댄 사람마다 구원을

받았다.

and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak, and as many as touched it were healed.

        e lo pregavano di poter toccare almeno l'orlo del suo mantello. E quanti lo toccavano guarivano. 

    Ils le suppliaient de leur laisser seulement toucher la frange de son manteau, et tous ceux qui le faisaient furent 

    sauvés.

et rogabant eum, ut vel fimbriam vestimenti eius tangerent; et, quicumque tetigerunt, salvi facti sunt.

그 무렵 1 모세가 에티오피아 여자를 아내로 맞아들였는데,
미르얌과 아론은 모세가 아내로 맞아들인 그 에티오피아 여자 때문에
모세를 비방하였다.
2 그들은 이렇게 말하였다. “주님께서 모세를 통해서만 말씀하셨느냐?
우리를 통해서도 말씀하시지 않았느냐?”
주님께서 이 말을 들으셨다.
3 그런데 모세라는 사람은 매우 겸손하였다.
땅 위에 사는 어떤 사람보다도 겸손하였다.
4 주님께서 갑자기 모세와 아론과 미르얌에게 말씀하셨다.

7 나의 종 모세는 다르다. 그는 나의 온 집안을 충실히 맡고 있는 사람이다.
8 나는 입과 입을 마주하여 그와 말하고, 환시나 수수께끼로 말하지 않는다.
그는 주님의 모습까지 볼 수 있다.
그런데 너희는 어찌하여 두려움도 없이 나의 종 모세를 비방하느냐?”
9 주님께서는 그들에게 진노하시며 떠나가셨다.
10 구름이 천막 위에서 물러가자,
미르얌이 악성 피부병에 걸려 눈처럼 하얗게 되어 있는 것이 아닌가?
아론이 몸을 돌려 미르얌을 보자, 과연 그 여자는 악성 피부병에 걸려 있었다.
11 아론이 모세에게 말하였다.
“아, 나의 주인님,
우리가 어리석게 행동하여 저지른 죄의 값을 우리에게 지우지 마십시오.
12 미르얌을, 살이 반은 뭉그러진 채 모태에서 죽어 나온 아이처럼
저렇게 놓아두지 말아 주십시오.”
13 그러자 모세가 주님께
“하느님, 제발 미르얌을 고쳐 주십시오.” 하고 부르짖었다.

In quei giorni, Maria e Aronne parlarono contro Mosè, a causa della donna etìope che aveva preso. Infatti aveva 
sposato una donna etìope. Dissero: «Il Signore ha forse parlato soltanto per mezzo di Mosè? Non ha parlato 
anche per mezzo nostro?». Il Signore udì. Ora Mosè era un uomo assai umile, più di qualunque altro 
sulla faccia della terra.
Il Signore disse a un tratto a Mosè, ad Aronne e a Maria: «Uscite tutti e tre verso la tenda del convegno». 
Uscirono tutti e tre. Il Signore scese in una colonna di nube, si fermò all'ingresso della tenda e chiamò Aronne 
e Maria. I due si fecero avanti.
Il Signore disse:
«Ascoltate le mie parole!
Se ci sarà un vostro profeta,
io, il Signore,
in visione a lui mi rivelerò,
in sogno parlerò con lui.
Non così per il mio servo Mosè:
egli è l'uomo di fiducia in tutta la mia casa.
Bocca a bocca parlo con lui,
in visione e non per enigmi,
ed egli contempla l'immagine del Signore.
Perché non avete temuto
di parlare contro il mio servo, contro Mosè?».
L'ira del Signore si accese contro di loro ed egli se ne andò; la nube si ritirò di sopra alla tenda ed ecco: 
Maria era lebbrosa, bianca come la neve. Aronne si volse verso Maria ed ecco: era lebbrosa.
Aronne disse a Mosè: «Ti prego, mio signore, non addossarci il peccato che abbiamo stoltamente commesso! 
Ella non sia come il bambino nato morto, la cui carne è già mezzo consumata quando esce dal seno della madre». 
Mosè gridò al Signore dicendo: «Dio, ti prego, guariscila!».

En ces jours-là,

    Il dit alors à Moïse :
« Je t’en supplie, mon seigneur,

제 허물을 말끔히 씻어 주시고, 제 잘못을 깨끗이 지워 주소서. ◎
○ 제 죄악을 제가 알고 있사오며, 제 잘못이 언제나 제 앞에 있나이다. 

당신께, 오로지 당신께 잘못을 저지르고, 당신 눈앞에서 악한 짓을 하였나이다. ◎
○ 판결을 내리셔도 당신은 의로우시고, 심판을 내리셔도 당신은 떳떳하시리이다.

R. Be merciful, O Lord, for we have sinned.
Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion wipe out my offense.
Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me. R.
For I acknowledge my offense;

“Against you only have I sinned;
and done what is evil in your sight.” R.
That you may be justified in your sentence,
vindicated when you condemn.

군중이 배불리 먹은 다음, 22 예수님께서는 곧 제자들을 재촉하시어
배를 타고 건너편으로 먼저 가게 하시고,
그동안에 당신께서는 군중을 돌려보내셨다.
23 군중을 돌려보내신 뒤, 예수님께서는 따로 기도하시려고 산에 오르셨다.
그리고 저녁때가 되었는데도 혼자 거기에 계셨다.
24 배는 이미 뭍에서 여러 스타디온 떨어져 있었는데,
마침 맞바람이 불어 파도에 시달리고 있었다.
25 예수님께서는 새벽에 호수 위를 걸으시어 그들 쪽으로 가셨다.
26 제자들은 예수님께서 호수 위를 걸으시는 것을 보고
겁에 질려 “유령이다!” 하며 두려워 소리를 질러 댔다.
27 예수님께서는 곧 그들에게 말씀하셨다.
“용기를 내어라. 나다. 두려워하지 마라.”
28 그러자 베드로가 말하였다.
“주님, 주님이시거든 저더러 물 위를 걸어오라고 명령하십시오.”
29 예수님께서 “오너라.” 하시자,
베드로가 배에서 내려 물 위를 걸어 예수님께 갔다.
30 그러나 거센 바람을 보고서는 그만 두려워졌다.
그래서물에빠져들기시작하자, “주님, 저를구해주십시오.” 하고소리를질렀다.
31 예수님께서 곧 손을 내밀어 그를 붙잡으시고,
“이 믿음이 약한 자야, 왜 의심하였느냐?” 하고 말씀하셨다.
32 그러고 나서 그들이 배에 오르자 바람이 그쳤다.
33 그러자 배 안에 있던 사람들이 그분께 엎드려 절하며,
“스승님은 참으로 하느님의 아드님이십니다.” 하고 말하였다.
34 그들은 호수를 건너 겐네사렛 땅에 이르렀다.
35 그러자 그곳 사람들이 그분을 알아보고
그 주변 모든 지방으로 사람들을 보내어, 병든 이들을 모두 그분께 데려왔다.
36 그리고 그 옷자락 술에 그들이 손이라도 대게 해 주십사고 청하였다.
과연 그것에 손을 댄 사람마다 구원을 받았다.

Jesus made the disciples get into a boat
and precede him to the other side of the sea,
while he dismissed the crowds.
After doing so, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray.
When it was evening he was there alone.
Meanwhile the boat, already a few miles offshore,
was being tossed about by the waves, for the wind was against it.
During the fourth watch of the night,
he came toward them, walking on the sea.
When the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were terrified.
“It is a ghost,” they said, and they cried out in fear.
At once Jesus spoke to them, “Take courage, it is I; do not be afraid.”
Peter said to him in reply,
“Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water.”
He said, “Come.”
Peter got out of the boat and began to walk on the water toward Jesus.
But when he saw how strong the wind was he became frightened;
and, beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!”
Immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him,
and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
After they got into the boat, the wind died down.
Those who were in the boat did him homage, saying,
“Truly, you are the Son of God.”
After making the crossing, they came to land at Gennesaret.
When the men of that place recognized him,
they sent word to all the surrounding country.
People brought to him all those who were sick
and begged him that they might touch only the tassel on his cloak,
and as many as touched it were healed.

[Dopo che la folla ebbe mangiato], subito Gesù costrinse i discepoli a salire sulla barca e a precederlo sull'altra riva, 
finché non avesse congedato la folla. Congedata la folla, salì sul monte, in disparte, a pregare. Venuta la sera, 
egli se ne stava lassù, da solo.
La barca intanto distava già molte miglia da terra ed era agitata dalle onde: il vento infatti era contrario. Sul finire della notte egli andò verso di loro camminando sul mare. 
Vedendolo camminare sul mare, i discepoli furono sconvolti e dissero: «È un fantasma!» e gridarono dalla paura. 
Ma subito Gesù parlò loro dicendo: «Coraggio, sono io, non abbiate paura!».
Pietro allora gli rispose: «Signore, se sei tu, comandami di venire verso di te sulle acque». Ed egli disse: «Vieni!». 
Pietro scese dalla barca, si mise a camminare sulle acque e andò verso Gesù. Ma, vedendo che il vento era forte, 
s'impaurì e, cominciando ad affondare, gridò: «Signore, salvami!». E subito Gesù tese la mano, lo afferrò e gli disse: 
«Uomo di poca fede, 
perché hai dubitato?».
Appena saliti sulla barca, il vento cessò. Quelli che erano sulla barca si prostrarono davanti a lui, dicendo: 
«Davvero tu sei Figlio di Dio!».
Compiuta la traversata, approdarono a Gennèsaret. E la gente del luogo, riconosciuto Gesù, diffuse la notizia 
in tutta la regione; gli portarono tutti i malati e lo pregavano di poter toccare almeno il lembo del suo mantello. 
E quanti lo toccarono furono guariti.

Jésus avait nourri la foule dans le désert.
    Aussitôt il obligea les disciples à monter dans la barque
et à le précéder sur l’autre rive,
pendant qu’il renverrait les foules.
    Quand il les eut renvoyées,
il gravit la montagne, à l’écart, pour prier.
Le soir venu, il était là, seul.
    La barque était déjà à une bonne distance de la terre,
elle était battue par les vagues,
car le vent était contraire.
    Vers la fin de la nuit, Jésus vint vers eux
en marchant sur la mer.
    En le voyant marcher sur la mer,
les disciples furent bouleversés.
Ils dirent :
« C’est un fantôme. »
Pris de peur, ils se mirent à crier.
    Mais aussitôt Jésus leur parla :
« Confiance ! c’est moi ; n’ayez plus peur ! »
    Pierre prit alors la parole :
« Seigneur, si c’est bien toi,
ordonne-moi de venir vers toi sur les eaux. »
    Jésus lui dit :
« Viens ! »
Pierre descendit de la barque
et marcha sur les eaux pour aller vers Jésus.
    Mais, voyant la force du vent, il eut peur
et, comme il commençait à enfoncer, il cria :
« Seigneur, sauve-moi ! »
    Aussitôt, Jésus étendit la main, le saisit
et lui dit :
« Homme de peu de foi,
pourquoi as-tu douté ? »
    Et quand ils furent montés dans la barque,
le vent tomba.
    Alors ceux qui étaient dans la barque
se prosternèrent devant lui, et ils lui dirent :
« Vraiment, tu es le Fils de Dieu ! »
    Après la traversée, ils abordèrent à Génésareth.
    Les gens de cet endroit reconnurent Jésus ;
ils firent avertir toute la région,
et on lui amena tous les malades.
    Ils le suppliaient de leur laisser seulement
toucher la frange de son manteau,
et tous ceux qui le faisaient furent sauvés.
