Walking with Jesus
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” — Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)
Are you walking with Jesus?
The path of following Jesus is not always a wide and comfortable road. Sometimes it is a lonely path where there seem to be no footprints ahead of us. There are moments when we do not know what to choose or where the road will lead.
Oswald Chambers reflects on what it means to follow Jesus:
“Are you walking with Jesus? The path is a lonely one, leading to places where there are no footprints. There is only the voice saying, ‘Follow Me.’”
Following Jesus does not mean knowing the entire road before we begin. It means trusting Him enough to take the next step, even when we cannot see what lies ahead.
And we do not walk this path because our faith is strong enough or because we have earned the right to walk with Him. Ephesians 2:8 reminds us that our salvation is entirely by grace through faith. It is not something we have produced ourselves; it is God’s gift.
Therefore, following Jesus is not about trying to earn God's acceptance. We follow Him because we have already received His grace.
Jesus said to His disciples:
“You are those who have stood by me in my trials.”
— Luke 22:28
The disciples were not perfect. They stumbled, misunderstood, and sometimes became afraid. Yet Jesus remembered that they had remained with Him.
The same invitation comes to us today:
“Follow Me.”
Sometimes we may hear only His voice while the road ahead remains unclear. Other people's paths may seem certain while ours appears uncertain. But faith does not mean knowing every step in advance. Faith means trusting the One who knows the way and taking the next step with Him.
So walk with Jesus today.
Walk with Him even when the path feels lonely.
Trust Him when you cannot see the road ahead.
Hold on to His voice when there are no footprints to follow.
We are people who have been saved by grace, and therefore we are called to live by grace, following the voice of our Lord.
Let us pray:
“Lord, I do not know the whole road ahead, but I trust that You do. Help me follow Your way rather than my own. Because I have been saved by Your grace, help me walk with You faithfully today and all the way to the end. Amen.”
Key Sentence
Salvation is God’s gift of grace, and the life of faith is walking with Jesus, trusting His voice even when we cannot see the road ahead.
