(울란바타르=연합뉴스) 임형섭 설승은 기자 = 이재명 대통령은 10일(현지시간) 몽골 국빈 방문 이틀째 일정을 이어간다.
이 대통령은 먼저 몽골에서 인술을 펼치며 독립운동을 지원한 이태준 열사 기념관을 방문하고 이어 몽골 내 교민들과 오찬 간담회를 한다.
이후 이 대통령은 몽골의 뱜바척트 국회의장 및 냠-오소르 오츠랄 총리를 각각 접견해 양국 관계 발전을 위한 몽골 국회 및 정부 차원의 노력을 당부한다.
저녁에는 오흐나 후렐수흐 몽골 대통령이 주최하는 국빈 만찬에 자리해 친교를 다진다.
이 대통령은 국빈 방문 마지막 날인 11일엔 주빈 자격으로 후렐수흐 대통령과 함께 몽골 최대 명절인 '나담축제' 개막식에 참석하는 것으로 순방 일정을 마무리한다. 이 축제는 몽골의 자유와 독립 정신을 기리는 국가적 행사로, 한국 정상이 주빈으로 초청된 것은 처음이다.

(ATTN: UPDATES with more info in paras 11-12) By Park Boram ULAANBAATAR, July 9 (Yonhap) -- South Korean President Lee Jae Myung held a summit with his Mongolian counterpart, Ukhnaa Khurelsukh, on Thursday and declared a shared vision for cooperation in various fields, most notably in trade, critical minerals and advanced technologies. Lee made the remarks during a joint press announcement with Khurelsukh following their summit in Ulaanbaatar, declaring the start of a "golden age" of South Korea-Mongolia relations. Lee arrived in the Mongolian capital earlier Thursday for a three-day state visit, marking the first such visit to Mongolia by a South Korean president in 15 years. (Yonhap) "Building on more than three decades of friendship and trust, this joint declaration will serve as an important milestone as we work together to forge a true golden age of Korea-Mongolia relations," Lee said. Under the shared vision, Lee said the two countries will expand cooperation in the economy, trade and supply chains, including those involving critical minerals. Lee said the two countries agreed in principle on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, saying that, under the framework, they will work toward achieving US$1 billion in annual bilateral trade by 2030. The South Korean president also cited artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, and cutting-edge science and technology as areas in which the countries will work to expand cooperation. The leaders also agreed to further strengthen political and diplomatic trust while deepening their countries' strategic partnership by expanding high-level exchanges and strategic communication and maintaining cooperation on regional and international issues, according to Lee. To further expand cultural and people-to-people exchanges, the two countries will promote exchanges in tourism, education, employment and culture, while strengthening consular cooperation, the South Korean president noted. Lee said he also shared with Khurelsukh South Korea's vision for peace and cooperation on the Korean Peninsula and stressed the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region. Khurelsukh expressed strong agreement in return, he said. A presidential official later said at a press briefing that the two leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in efforts to establish peace on the Korean Peninsula and reaffirmed that ensuring peace on the peninsula and in the broader region would benefit both countries. President Khurelsukh, in particular, expressed his "proactive support" for Seoul's peace-building efforts and pledged to play a necessary role in helping create conditions conducive to the resumption of inter-Korean dialogue and the improvement of inter-Korean relations. Lee said he will attend Mongolia's largest national festival, Naadam, on Saturday, expressing hope that it will serves as an opportunity for the people of Korea and Mongolia to grow closer. (Yonhap) During the summit, the South Korean president said his government will seek to bring peace to the peninsula by pursuing dialogue and cooperation, thanking Mongolia for its constructive role in advancing such efforts and expressing hope for its continued support. "Based on the trust between the two countries, I will further strengthen bilateral political trust and deepen our strategic partnership," Lee said. Khurelsukh described bilateral relations as a "strategic partnership," saying Lee's visit to Mongolia would make a valuable contribution to strengthening political trust and expanding substantive economic cooperation between the countries. On the sidelines of the summit, the two countries signed a total of 21 memorandums of understanding and agreements between their ministries and institutions, including those aimed at strengthening cooperation in AI and logistics and expanding exchanges in cybersecurity and next-generation communications.
