아빠의 육아 휴직에 대해서 이야기해 주세요.​

Times change, and highly-qualified women 

have joined the workforce to flex their 

abilities. 

시대가 많이 변하면서, 능력을 갖춘 여성들이 

사회에 진출하여 뛰어난 실력을 발휘하기 

시작했다. ​

But unfortunately, career disruptions were 

common for women when they had and 

raised children.

하지만 안타깝게도 여성들이 아이를 낳고 

키우다 보면 커리어가 단절되는 경우가 많았다.​

My wife and I had twin daughters after 

we got married. 

나와 아내는 결혼 후 쌍둥이 공주님을 낳았다. ​

I wanted to help my beloved wife 

maintain her life. 

나는 사랑하는 아내의 삶을 지켜주고 싶었다. 

So, I put my career on hold and applied for 

a year-long leave of absence to raise 

the girls.

그래서 나의 커리어를 잠시 내려놓고 딸들을 

키우기 위해 1년간 육아 휴직을 신청했다.​

Employers and coworkers used to 

disapprove of dads going on paternity 

leaves just five or six years ago. 

불과 5~6년 전만 하더라도, 아빠의 육아 휴직은 

회사나 동료들이 좋게 보지 않았다.​

To be sure, the atmosphere still doesn't 

actively encourage paternity leaves. 

물론, 아직도 아빠의 육아 휴직을 적극적으로 

권장하는 분위기가 아닌 것은 확실하다. ​

But raising children is a shared 

responsibility for both men and women.

하지만 육아는 남녀 모두의 공동 책임이다. ​

I urge dads all over the world to confidently 

go on parternity leaves to take care of their 

kids.

나는 이 세상 아빠들에게 당당히 육아 휴직을 

하여 아이를 돌볼 것을 권장한다.
